Have 2000 Ford Focus and for a minute or so after opening the driver's door, either with the electronic key or the manual key, the locks keep ''clicking'' away. Any idea what the problem is and what can I do about it? Thanks, Bill from Bromley
Usually this is a faulty door solenoid. If the central locking activates when just the driver's door lock is used, then it's almost certainly the solenoid in that door alone. If you can activate the central locking via the passenger door, then it's a bit more complicated as more detailed diagnostics need to be done to isolate the fault.
Your Ford dealer, an automotive electrician and some automotive locksmiths can all quickly diagnose and fix this issue. It's easily a DIY fix, but you may end up replacing perfectly good parts and you can't then return them.
If on a very tight budget then you'll find all the parts you need at G.W.Bridges Breakers yard, it's an absolutely gigantic yard just near the Pease Pottage services at the southern end of the M23. However, you have no idea of the condition of used electrical parts like these so it's usually a false economy to fit anything other than new.
Hope this has helped you, if so please rate my answer.
