It seems during the night there was a power shortage (computer was on) and now it won't repsond at all.
there is a green light on the lower right corner of the motherboard blinking continously.

It's possible that your computer froze during sleep. First, unplug the power cord, (with the cord removed) press the power button for 10-20 seconds. PS: You will lose any unsaved data prior to sleep mode. Let me know if this doesn't resolve your problem, might be something major.
The most common problem with computers is them freezing up.
When applications dont load or freeze up.
The easiest way to fix most problems is usually just the simple act of "rebooting" the computer.
Most of us already know that.
but just in case you dont heres how.
when the computer seems frozen and you seem to have waited longer for it to unfreeze than it takes for bread to toast.. you can try the following.
press and hold the crtl anf alt buttons and double tap the del button.
on older computers using windows 98- 2000 and millenium editions it will usually reboot the computer. also works with older versions.
with xp and vista you will usually fet a differernt screen that will allow you to choose various options.. choose restart.
another way is to click on the start button located on the bottom left of your screen and choose restart option. if the computer is so frozen that nothing works you can press and hold the power button unti lthe computer shuts down.. wait 30 seconds and turn the computer back on..if that doesnt work then you may have to turn of the power switch..but only if you have to..with laptops you will have to take out the battery. when the comp reboots the computer should be unfrozen..if not you will need more help ..just ask us..
Steps: 1. Unplug all the cables from the computer. (If you are not sure then make a note of which cable goes where) 2. After you've unplugged the cables. Press and hold the power button on your computer for about 3-5 secs. 3. It wont start the comp :). This steps is done remove any left over power in the comp... 4. Re-connect all cables and check.
Let me know if this helps, If not, then i'll tell you what to do next. :)
Also, please let me know if you use Dial or ADSL Internet. Because if previous steps dont work then we need to try anther steps.
this is most likely a short in a computer component, You need to unplug everything from the computer incl CPU, Memory, Add on Cards, Hdds, the lot, just have motherboard plugged in and push power, if it powers up (there won't be a pic but you will know it's working) start replacing parts one by one until it won't start and that is the faulty part. If it does nothing with just motherboard plugged in the motherboard is at fault and needs to be replaced, If you have had the motherboard out make sure no of the metal mounts in the case are shorting out anywhere under the motherboard as this will also cause the same fault.
this sometimes happens with operating systems.nothing to worry just press and hold down the power button of the pc for 5-6 seconds and you will see that the system will shut down completely.then just turn it on the normal way you do and it should work fine.if it is vista then it may give you a prompt to start windows normally.just hit enter on that option.
Replace the power switch as it is either broken or stuck 'on'. You can purchase them pretty cheap (around $5) and are easily replaced providing you have motherboard/computer case documentation. Even if you don't have documentation, the motherboard usually has it written (typically in the bottom left or right of the motherboard) very small where it should be connected to.
Sounds like the pc power supply is bad... U can replace it, but if supply went out it may have damaged the motherboard. In future, have monitor blank off automaticlly and install UPS to supply pc. HP has histroy of weak power supplies.
