Comp won't start

Nothing happends when i press the start button. It seems during the night there was a power shortage (computer was on) and now it won't repsond at all. there is a green light on the lower right corner of the motherboard blinking continously. If i recall correctly that light should be a steady one, not blinking. Hullett Packard  4550, windows 98.  I wont start.  It seems to start when I press the power button but it doesn't send the signal to the monitor.  the monitor is fine.  I tried the pc with another monitor and it does the same thing.  when I press the power button to turn it off, I have to keep pressing the button for a while until it goes off. Thank you very much. Wont start likights blink and monitor wont start nor will cd slot open "HP pavilion 505 n"

My Acer Aspire M1201 won't turn on.

More than likely your power supply got fried from a power surge during that storm anyway. You'd be surprised at how worthless most surge suppressors are these days.

My computer has frozen during shutdown it has never happend before. Please help !!!

this sometimes happens with operating systems.nothing to worry just press and hold down the power button of the pc for 5-6 seconds and you will see that the system will shut down completely.then just turn it on the normal way you do and it should work fine.if it is vista then it may give you a prompt to start windows normally.just hit enter on that option.

Sounds like the pc power supply is bad... U can replace it, but if supply went out it may have damaged the motherboard. In future, have monitor blank off automaticlly and install UPS to supply pc. HP has histroy of weak power supplies.

Comp won't start

Your MotherBoard has 2 LEDs in the lower right corner, each designating a power condition. They are labeled LED14 and LED21. LED14 lights when there is a power source connected. If this is the one blinking it likely indicates a failed power supply. If you have an alternate power supply available that is comparable in power supply capabilities I would try that. LED21 lights when the system is powered on. Replace the power supply.
