My touch pad does nothing - Gateway Computers & Internet

The touch pad might be faulty. Try to reboot the laptop after cleaning touch pad with a clean damp cloth. If nothing happens then the sensors under the touch pad could be faulty.

This has happened to me and it took me hours to figure it out. I hope yours is the same problem...
Make sure you dont have your touch pad set to off. On my ASUS It is F9 on my keyboard. the key shows an icon of the touch pad with a slash (/) through it. If you do not see this on your keyboard try looking in control panel and see if there is a setting in there. Good Luck. Please let me know if this worked.

if you plug usb keyboard onto your laptop it will probably turn the touch pad off.
If no other keyboard is attached there is usually a switch to turn off the touch pad.
also if you attach a mouse this may disable the touchpad so you dont move the mouse pointer when you are typing

go to the control panel, mouse configuration , and try to turn on the touch pad

Hi this will happen when the touch pad circuits become unstable and damaged, due to abundant usage or , old age.

simply replacing the touch pad will fix this issue.

My microwave way manafacture May 2008. Nothing on the touch pad works.???. It just abrubtly stopped
after a few seconds.

This may be a simple driver glitch. Try uninstalling the touch pad drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers. The touch pad either works or it doesn't, there's no in between, so if this doesn't work, then I'm afraid you'll have to replace the touch pad.

Touch pad is failing.Try not to get any moisture around this touch pad.Biggest mistake for all appliances is the touch pad and water dont mix well.

It is more than likely the touch pad that is faulty. I have installed many bonaires, and the only thing to go wrong at that age is the touch pad, or the problem is in the control box in the airconditioner.

The touch pad comes off quite easily by placing something flat behind the pannel and leavering it off gently. The touchpad has two pieces, the front, which you see, and the mounting bracket. The bracket is almost as big as the front pannel, so you only have approx 2-3mm of plastic edge to lever, so be careful not to hook onto the mounting bracket as well.

Once you have removed the front, you can then unplug the lead coming from the touch pad (be sure to turn the control box off in the airconditioner before removing this wire, there is a switch on the side of the control box (yes, you have to get on the roof, sorry)). Take the touch pad to your local retailer that sells Bonaire units and see if that is the problem.
