Autofocus problem-Kodak EasyShare C875

I bought this camera a year ago last December. Started having focusing problems in November 07. Called Kodak as it was under warranty and sent it at my expense to where they said to send it. They kept it for two weeks, sent it back, still not fixed. Sent it back beginning of Januart 08 as still under repair warranty. They wanted $130 to repair. Told them it was under repair warranty. They kept the camera and returned it Feb 26,08.

Problem: autofocus does not focus when taking pictures within 5-8 ft. Using auto mode, button is held down halfway to get the focus. Af appears in red on screen and light flashes red. Took it back to store and they saw and experienced same problem with it.

When i take a picture it looks like someone has thrown paint on wall

Sounds like a serious sensor problem.

This cannot be fixed by the consumer. If the camera is still under warranty, contact the seller or Kodak about repair or replacement. I found Kodak tech support extremely difficult to deal with and quite unhelpful but they did eventually repair it and it cost me only $15 for shipping.

They warned me that if I sent it to them and they found I had abused it, they would charge me $35 for analyzing the problem if I chose not to have it repaired but that the $35 would be deducted from the cost of repairs if I let them fix it. Fortunately that did not become a problem.

However, the first time I used it after it was fixed, I was on a beach in the Bahamas and the identical problem occurred again. Fortunately I had a film camera with me as a backup.

I left that $100 camera on the beach swearing I would never buy another Kodak AV product again. By then, the warranty had expired and I wasn't about to throw good money after bad by paying Kodak to fix it again.

Kodak sold it's AV group two or three years ago and they still use the Kodak name but they're not really Kodak.

The real Kodak film company still makes great film, photographic processing chemicals, etc. but they no longer deal in cameras, projectors, etc.

If the warranty has expired, it will likely cost you almost as much as you paid for the camera to get it repaired by Kodak. You might find another repair shop on the web that will do it a little cheaper. I use Precision Camera and have had good luck with them.

They have flat rate quotes for repairs and it would not take long to get a quote from them. You can also do a web search for camera repair shops. There are many and you may find one that's local for you.

I have had my Kodak Easyshare C330 since December 2005. When the camera tries to extend the lens, it does it very slightly. This is then followed by "lens error: 14" and the camera then shuts off. I have...

You have 1-2 years warranty on your camera (depending on which country you bought the camera in).

KODAK recommends a repair for this error code.

An Out of Warranty repair for this model for this fault is about 48 pounds + shipping. KODAK also offers a Trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.

In order to arrange your repair/Trade up: Contact KODAK:

Kodak v1253 won't start

Assuming that you have fresh or fully charged batteries installed, chances are that the problem is corroded battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and clean the inside contacts with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper. Remove any residue that's in the camera from the cleaning, then reinstall your batteries. Hopefully this will cure the problem and get the camera back up and working the way it should.

If that doesn't do the trick, you might want to try your luck with the Kodak Troubleshooting guide at:

Nikon digital camera malfunction

Hey jackie jean,
If the two year extended warranty you are talking about is a performance service plan purchased at a Best Buy™ store then you could bring the camera into a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store, and they should be able to send it out for service at no charge to you. I am assuming you formatted the memory card in the camera, but if this is not the case and you have formatted the memory card using your computer then I would suggest formatting the memory card in the camera. I hope this helps!

Go Ahead. Use Us.

Horizontal lines running through pictures.....Z612.

I've had sinilar problems with mine. I bought it in November of 2006 and sent it back to Kodak (under warranty) 3x before they finally agreed to replace it (with a refurbed unit). Well, that was in June of 2007 and the problem is now baaaack with the reoplacement camera (same model)... I'm requesting Kodak replace it with another model, but I'm "out of warranty" and they want me to pay them $145 to repair (which they've never been able to fix for me). So I am requesting them to replace with a different model.

I will suggest you that you should claimed the warranty if ever there is,

Because sometimes the camera charger got a problem, If you have an spare battery maybe you should try to prove that charger is good and only the battery is busted.

This problem maybe solve by removing the battery and fix it back. and then charge it again.

But its better to enjoy the warranty. You should decide if the cause is much reasonble by changing the battery or by going to the vendor and claim the warranty.

best regards, melnavz
