Making noise like its trying to open video but never shows anything on screen, just keep making the noise like its going to at any moment.
You can try to reset the dvd Player to the factory specification by using the default option in the preference menu. Use the remote control and push the set-up button. Use the up and down arrows to highlight the preference option. Press ok and enter the sub-menu. Use the up and down arrows to highlight the default option and press ok.This will reset the DVD player to the factory specifications. If this does not work for you . Try cleaning the DVD lense with a cotton swab and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol. Put a small amount of alcohol on the tip of swab and rub it back and forth gently across the lense, until it appears bright and shines. Also check the laser transport and see if it need cleaning of the dust and debris that can accumulate in the in the
dvd compartment. Use cotton swabs with small amounts of alcohol to clean the transport rails and gears.Check to make sure the action of the transport is not impeded by any dust or debris. Also check the gears and make sure they are clean and look in good working order. After doing all this take a can of compressed air and blow all the dust and debis from the dvd compartment. Try playing a cd or dvd and see if the palyer is working properly. If not check the spindle and make sure it is snug and working correctly, holding the dvd correctly for the laser to read it. If it feels loose try using a drop of super glue to make it snug again.Try playing a cd or dvd and see if the player works correctly. If not then you probably are having a problem with the laser lense itself or the motor drive. They may have lost the ability to run under specifications due to useage or ageing. For these problems you should call Phillips Customer support at 1-888-744-5477. Give them the modle number of your dvd player and the problem you are having with it not being able to read discs. SOURCE: never show video
There are 3 possible causes for this problem:
1) Dirty lens - clean the lens with a lens cleaner or a non-abrasive foam cleaner on a cotton swap & leave to dry. If this doesn't work try the next option.
2) Hardened grease on the laser track - If the track grease hardens, it will impede the movement of the laser. - Turn the device off, and GENTLY push the laser to the outermost position from the centre. This will redistribute the track grease. Try a disc again.
3) If 1) & 2) haven't helped, then the problem is most likely a faulty laser or mechanism, which would have to be replaced.
