Question about HP LaserJet 1020 Printer

Print quality Our HP LaserJet 1020 printer worked very well for awhile. Now when it prints a page, it has a "shadow" of the first printed area on the bottom half of the page. Sometimes it is a very light shadow and I can use the page, however, most times it is dark enough that the "shadowed" words are very dark and obvious. Help.

    Have the same problem. Went to Office Depot and Best Buy and they said they couldn't help. Even tried HP help and got a gent names Vilson and after almost 1 hour all he could say was to clean the area where the cartridge sits. So even HP in their infinate India'n wisdom is able to identify or remedy the problem. I have cleaned and recleaned everything the instructions say and have tried various changes in properties. Hate to have to replace but see no alternative as I am unable to use anything that I print. Will try a Brother Laser Printer. Can't be any worse.

This is what is called ghosting. Usually this is due to the cartridge. Replace it and it should be fine.

Why do I get bleed through of print on pages I print out at bottom of page or shadow print on some?


Paper is too thin (use higher "pound" paper).
-or-
Toner is not of good quality (use HP Brand if possible)
-or-
Printer is set to dark or heavy in your page setup (change to normal or even light)

You can also make sure you are using an HP print driver instead of a generic print driver. Go to HP.com and search print driver for you model, download and install (if you don't already have an HP printer driver loaded on your PC).

HP LaserJet 4Plus - just changed the fuser and rollers - was getting smudges and shadow on the printer paper. Now getting (on the left 1/4th of the page) light areas with little or no print. The shadow...


Take the toner cartridge out of the printer. Shake it side to side. Reinstall it and print something.
See if that fixes the output.
Could also be the transfer roller.

This a very recent model. Try replacing the toner cartridge.

Color and black gets shadow on print out


Go to the printer Setup button, hit Ok, then look for Print Quality, acess print quality and go to calibrate colors, run this calibration for 3 times.
Then go to services and run a 2 cleaning modes
You can try printing blank pages selecting "cardstock" as paper type to clean the fuser

Every time i try to print multiply pages a window opens up


select the proper tray from the propeties of printer. it will take paper from that tray.

Poor Print Quality


I would start by changing the paper or even leave the paper in the son for a while. Paper usually gets damp, espesially durint the evening and then using it early in the moring. If this do not work you will have to change the cartridge.
