What does "lid open" mean on the lcd screen? If this happens, can't take picture.

if you loose picture when the "lid" is at certain angles it could be the LCD panel but I would lean more towards an LVDS cable issue (aka lcd cabkle).

The connector that plugs in the LCD panel has got loose with time. You must open the lid of the laptop, access the LCD panel and reseat all connectors and contacts on it = no new parts needed.

I w having this same issue when watching a Blu-Ray disc. I found it to be dependent upon what picture mode the TV was set to. By this I mean certain picture modes would cause the TV to dim during dark scenes of a movie. Changing the picture mode helped a lot.

your LCD panel cable could be disconnection. you need do follow steps
1) open LCD lid front cover, and loosen lid back cover, looking for a cable and a plug (plug in the socket) at back of panel, take out it clean all pins then reseat it.
2) if not fixed, you need change the LCD cable, because this symptom most cause the cable disconnection at plug and socket or itself..

Could be a loose cable connection the cable that runs between the LCD and the laptop my come loose from time to time and the screen will go black you have to be carful with this because you may be shorting out the inverter and eventuly you will have no picture it should be and eas fix if the cable is loose Go to the manue or service guide and find out how to open the Lcd cover behind the Lcd sceen there should be a connector make sure it is properly connected

you may plug off remote monitor power on to see carefully is there normal dark picture on your lcd screen,
!) lcd dark but there is pcture on the screen, it means the back lights inverter damage(which in the lcd lid and downside of lcd panel), or lamp damage (in the lcd panel), have to replace new parts
2) no any picture and dark panel, you may check lcd signal cable plugs are right seat in the sockets (which located between the back of lcd panel and motherboard), also check the inverter cable same thing (it merges in LCD cable) . it is better replace a new cable (most cases are cable disconnection somewhere)

The same thing happened on my HP. I ended up buying a LCD screen off ebay. That corrected the problem. New screens cost $150+. You can get one off ebay for half the price.

There is a concealed switch situated just to the right of the right hinge, which is activated by a cam on the screen bezel and acts as a sensor for lid open or closed, it also turns off the backlight, so if it sticks in a closed position, the backlight will not turn on, either free the switch, or disconnect it, it connects to the small power board (under the cover with the power button and 5 funtion buttons) i hope this solves your problem. ..... ****

in the top right corner you are suppose to have a little circular magnet that changes the screen when the phone is open or closed. I just changed my housing yesterday and took the magnet out and put it in my new housing but for some reason i have the same problem as you. so maybe you lost the magnet when you replaced the lcd and if that is the case then you are screwed. try have Motorola fix it, don't tell them you replaced the lcd
