Is that 10 seconds? 1/10 second? f/10?

What happens when you turn the command dial? What happens when you hold down the exposure compensation button and turn the command dial?

How do I turn on the Rear Command Dial in my Nikon D80 Digital Camera?

That depends on what you want the command dial to do. If you're in either the Manual (M) or Shutter Priority (S) modes, the command dial will change the shutter speed. If you're in the Program (P) mode, the command dial will shift the program exposure. If you're in any other exposure mode, the command dial does nothing.

If you hold down the metering mode button, the command dial will change the exposure metering mode.
If you hold down the exposure compensation button, the command dial will change the amount of the exposure compensation.

If you hold down the release mode button, the command dial will change the release mode.

If you hold down the AF button, the command dial will change the autofocus mode.

If you hold down the QUAL button, the command dial will change the image storage mode.

If you hold down the ISO button, the command dial will change the ISO.

If you hold down the WB button, the command dial will change the white balance setting.

If you're looking at the menus, the command dial will navigate the menu.

If you're reviewing pictures, the command dial will move to the previous or next picture.

Hope this helps. If you still have problems or other questions about this, please don't hesitate to reply to this post.

I have a Nikon D3100 and surprisingly the dial mode does not work properly. I mean when I turn it, at some modes, it shows the selected mode correctly on the display, but not for all

Hello mehran_vafae, is supposed to have put a DX lens.
The mode dial, select in what way is going to take a picture.
You can make combinations according to the mode set in the mode dial, with the Fn key / command dial, command dial / aperture A mode, command dial / shutter speed S mode, Full Auto / + / - compensation sw, etc. ..
Please carefully read the user manual supplied with your camera and if it fails take them to Nikon service.
Regards

The thumb wheel doesn't seem to change any of the modes

Yes the is a common problem on this modle camera, mine decided to do this right in the middle at the beginning of a lightning storm and missd out on the whole thing that really up set me. I found a repair guide on the net that tells you how to fix it (If your out of warrenty) heres one here:http://www.sdirkx.nl/DIY_repair_command_dial/
But when I did mine I used a small allen key. It will now NEVER make me miss a storm again !

Is there a repair for command dial on a fuji s9500

Yes. contact Fuji and it cost about £14.00, its a doddle to fit.
When you recieve it you'll work out how to remove the broken part because you'll understand how it locates, basically a small Pozi screwdriver and a sharp knife to lever the top off.

Fuji S9500 only works on auto setting

I had this problem with my S9500, the small dial/wheel for changing shutter speeds, F settings, etc stopped working. Luckily I had a few weeks left on the extended warrenty and had it sorted for free. Fuji had to replace that whole part of the mechanism as something internally went wrong.
It may be something simple if you are prepared to look at it yourself. I know it's not the same, but when the thumbwheel stopped working on my ipod, I took it apart and found a few grains of sand had gone between the contacts thus breaking the circuit. Cleaned it out and hurrah! It works again.

How can I change the exposures, or f-stops on the Nikon N75 35mm camera?

That depends on the exposure mode. In the point&shoot modes the camera sets the exposure.

In P you can turn the command dial to change the exposure.

In S you turn the command dial to set the shutter speed, the camera changes the aperture to suit.

In A you turn the command dial to set the aperture, the camera changes the shutter speed to suit.

In M you turn the command dial to set the shutter speed, you hold down the aperture button and turn the command dial to set the aperture.

If you don't have a manual, get one from http://www.butkus.org/chinon/nikon.htm

Finepix S9500 command dial appears u/s. have i inadvertantly disabled the function, or is it a fault that needs repairing?

needs reapiring I'm afraid. Apparantley a common problem on s9500's, the command dial breaking. It's worth mentioning though that there are stories of Fuji repairing this free of charge out of warranty because it is in fact a design fault. Worth checkin out.

Command dial is operating mechancally but does not adjust/ change any settings.

If it is still under warranty- your are in luck A repair shop if you can one- will charge about the value of the camera. Bearing this in mind and if you have the nous and suitable fine tools- have a go at looking under the button- you may find slight adjustment to be made. You do this by removing the batteries and removing the fine screws that hold the top plate and /or back cover on. But don't hold your breath.
