Question about Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M Motherboard

1 Answer

GA-K8VM800M and GV-N76G256D-RH compatibility

I bought the video card Gigabyte GeForce 7600GS 256Mb Gddr2 Silent-Pipe Dvi HDTv Agp8x (GV-N76G256D-RH). After mounted, I plugged the supplementary power cord switch on the PC, but the computer does not start.
I tried to adjust BIOS (AGP 4x-8x, fastwrite), but nothing changes. The computer turns but does not start, it doesn’t load from the Hard Disk and the screen remains black. The motherboard also it is Gigabyte: GA-K8VM800M. I tried the video card to another PC and it work, so does not appear to be damaged. Without the video card the computer start regularly, if leave the old VGA (Sapphire Radeon 9600pro) the computer start regularly. (I have uninstalled all older drivers before plug in the new VGA). Only the new VGA give that problem.
What do you suggest to do? Thank you very much for your answer, Francesco Passoni.

I've tried a 450W Fortron PSU just yesterday and all is the same...

450W for only 1 HD and one VGA, I think it's impossible that PSU is the problem.

    PS: thanks for the answer.

I am sorry that I am not able to help but I have a very similar problem. I have the GA-K8VM800M mother board and the PNY 7600 GS (AGP, 256MB, DDR2) graphics card. When I install the card the PC does not boot. I have tried changing various BIOS settings but without success.

Perhaps your power supply is not powerful enough for the new card.

It supports all 4X AGP cards. The max you can get for 4X is 256MB. Nvidia GeForce series has some nice cards for these specs.
