Hi I have the sort of problem.

Switch the camera on and there is a clicking noise from the body but nothing is happening.

I tried blowing as reccomended but to no success. As it's less than a year old, it's going back to Fuji.

I have the same problem with my S9600 on / off switch. While taking pictures the batteries ran flat, after changing batteries found the camera would not switch on, have tried new and re-charged batteries all to no avail. The camera is approx 8 months old, however have only taken 361 pictures so I would not call that fair wear and tear. Have found on the web people with the small problem with the S9600, one was even three days after purchase

I have the same problem. My s9600 just stopped working yesterday which I assumed was flat batteries however when I have recharged them the camera won't turn on at all. Fuji have quoted nearly £100 to repair which is what this camera would cost second hand anyway.

My other camera which is over a year older than the fuji is still working fine. Have been very disappointed with the fuji overall.

Hi I too, have the same problem, turn the camera on get a little clicking noise, then nothing, turn it on then off, still nothing, new batteries, still nothing, the only way to get it going is keep opening the battery door and closing and switching back on,sometimes does work,if you switch off the same again wont work,I have had it about 18 months, and proberly took about 200 pictures,NOT good for the money £250.00,would not recomend this product to anybody ps. I did think it was fantastic for the money for the functions you got,now i could get an SLR for this price :(

I have this problem too, there is nothing you can do what so ever, its a problem with the resistor these budget cameras do not last and require constant maintenance, i recommend saving up and buying a better one.

Make sure the card door is shut securely. Blow in the holes to clear the sensors.

Hi , My Fuji S9600 has just refused to power-up using batteries, although it still powers-up and operates correctly when i attach the mains PSU adapter. I wonder if this is a common occurrence on this...

A few things here may cause the problem you have First the rechargeable batteries don't hold their charge like alkaline and will drop to zero or near zero voltage in just a few weeks. They may tun on a light but won't have enough power to operate a camera. When this happens you need to charge the batteries possibly twice. Another thing is if the batteries were left in the camera then it's very possible that the contacts down inside the battery compartment are corroded and need cleaning before proper connection can be made. One other thing is that the batteries have been installed out of sequence and I'm including a diagram for this.

My S9600 was left unused [batteries left in camera] for several months. Now it will work fine with the mains adaptor, but is completely dead when on battery power. Have tried new batteries [rechargeable...

Sounds like corrosion on the battery contacts. I have seen battery contacts with a thin, transparent coating that came from leaking rechargeable batteries- doesn't look like the usual green crud, but it stops electricity from getting through. Try giving the contacts a scrape- you will need a long thin screwdriver or something of the sort.

Fuji Finepix S9600 - Photography mode doesn't work

Sounds like the CCD (main image sensor) is dead. It should be covered under warranty. It doesn't sound like there is anything you've done, or can do to rectify it. Get it in to a Fuji service center with your warranty/receipts.

S9600

i have a Fuji S9600 which seems to have a faulty On/Off dial. When swithing the camera on, the playback screen is displayed without any problem. However when selecting the picture taking mode, the LCD or view finder becomes a very faint grey colour and is dimly illuminated. When switching the camer off, this grey screen still remains until the batteries run out! The only way to switch off completely is to open the battery compartment. has anyone any ideas?

Cheers

Fuji S9600

If you are using rechargeable batteries check the output of your charger, a 900mah charger will not charge 2800mah batteries to their capacity.
Stretch.
