Apparently there's a 3 year warranty on the back light of these monitors so you may be able to send it off to viewsonic.

Replacing the back light yourself is certainly possible, depending on how confident you are with taking electronic equipment apart. Sourcing such a replacement may not be easy and might also cost more than the monitor's worth.

If you do proceed, care should certainly be taken so as to not to expose yourself to a dangerous shock; if you're not sure what you're doing then probably best leaving it alone, maybe find a friendly local nerd. Leaving the unit unplugged for 24 hours would be an essential precaution.

My monitor is properly connected to power supply and to the cpu . However, it will display turns totally blank. Light off the power switch remains on though.

Hello,

This is a common issue with the VA1912 units. The black screen is caused by a failure of the filter capacitors on the power supply board. You can replace the capacitors and the monitor will be as good as new. Here is a link to some information on the capacitors needed to build the power supply board.

Turns on for about 3 seconds and then black screen, shows still power is on. This is a viewsonic monitor

Look for bad caps as shown here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Viewsonic%20VX2235W/

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/

Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.
Please leave rating if it helps.

Hello my monitor is faulty and that is when you try to turn on and turn on stays on but nothing shows on screen.

The screen stays black? It does the same when attched to another PC?
Most common problem inthis model is due to bad caps with domed tops.

I have viewsonic va1912, when i plug it to my main outlet the led lgiht turns blinking green.... I already replaced some capacitors, 2200uF 10V, 1000uF 25V, 1000uF 10V, 220uF 25V but the still the same,...

What DC voltgae are you getting on the 10vdc rating caps, it should be 5vdc, and 12_18vdc on the 25vdc rating caps. You should check with the load such as 12v 1157 carbulb but do not hit the power button (make sure the power is off, the power supply is always running without the power switch activated) because we want to see if it will maitain 12v with external load not with the inverter circuits.

Monitor with a blank screen

The monitor is about 2 years old, time to inspect the caps in the power supply first, look for caps with bulging top. The problem can also be in the inverter circuits, or bad lamps. See example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

I have 2 yrs old va1912 view sonic lcd monitor... when i open it the led light still green & it wont open

Hi, You probably have a fault on your inverter board which will prevent the backlights from turning on and illuminating the screen. If you are lucky it may only be 1 or 2 blown capacitors which are easy to replace.

No display on Viewsonic VA1912wb

Your monitor sounds like it has gone bad. Cost for a repair is not worth it, a new one would be cheaper. Prices have gone down a lot in three years
