This is a sign your monitor is getting ready to go out. The only fix is a new lcd. Check with your local authorized Compaq/HP dealer for more information.

try using an external cd

Please make clear that whether it is showing from when you boot your computer to loading desktop then LCD is damaged mean to say its hardware problem so take your notebook to HP service center.

other wise remove VGA drivers and re install. To Check Driver Problem... Attach One Extra Monitor to your laptop and ensure that line is not showing on that monitor.

Your monitor is dying. It needs to be replaced

It's onboard with that model. Replacing the motherboard would be the only way to make it go away.

yes it looks like its going bad..must be pixel burnout or something..you will have to contact HP for repair/replacement
