Make sure that the wep password is correct.

change channels to 1-6-or 11.

check is to make sure you are NOT using "IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network."

You can find at setting under "Wireless Network Connection Properties" and then under "Authentication" tab of your network properties.

This particular authentication method is periodically logging you off the network and re-authenticating.

Check the adapter in device manager to make sure that windows is not shutting the adapter down to save power.

Cordless phones and wireless ethernet cards use overlapping frequencies. As a test, you can unplug the AC cords from all the cordless phonesconfiguring router to work with dsl modem - 1.gif in the area and see if it helps.
Also, check and see if the usb ports and the device are being shut down to save power, in device manager.

To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configoration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default PW (write it down and put it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.
Connect your DSL or cable modem to the D-Link router.

Monik:
Your router has the ability to automatically configure the network setting for your wireless adapter. You will want to use the "Using DHCP" setting on your network adapter settings to allow the router to assign an IP address to your system.
If you continue to have problems, try selecting the "Off" setting for the "Configure IPv6" setting while leaving the "Configure IPv4" setting to "Using DHCP". Once you have made this change, unplug the power cord from your router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cable back in to your router.

Once the router has synced-up to your network, you should be able to connect to the Internet.

If you have any further questions, please reply back to this answer and I will happily answer them.
Thank you for using FixYa and have a great evening.

Youe broadband router is working ok with the broadband cable. So it is configured with the broadband cable. Now,to work with the wireless internet, you have to configured the wi-fi router to work internet. You can see the wi-fi connection but unless & untill you will configure wi-fi router it must not work or if before it was working with the wi-fi then you can check the wi-fi router setting because it might change by mistake.Surely it will work after configurating wi-fi router.

I can't get my wireless d-link router working

To access the configuration page for your router, try 192.168.7.1 instead of the 192.168.0.1. If that doesn't work try and go to the manufacturers website and see if you can find the correct address. These must be default numbers as they are similar to others I've seen. In the prompt for username and password, leave user name blank and type admin into the password box.You may need to reconfigure but I would see if there is free Live Chat support available from the manufacturers website for that. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the router program/soft ware that came with the router .Hope this helps

SMC7901BRA Modem + Router Cannot connect

The Linksys router can be communicated with by going to Start>Run>type 'http://192.168.1.1' and when the logon screen appears use 'linksys' for username and 'admin' for the password. There you can reset defaults, view status, configure all router functions, et al, including restore defaults. Pressing the little reset button has reset levels that vary with the amount of time it is pressed -basically discharging a capacitive charge. Remember that cable modems use DHCP whereas DSL uses PPPoE. ~Steve

D-Link DWL-G510 Connected but no packets

Hi,
According to the user guide for your motorola broadband modem it doesnot support wirless capability , ie it can only hook your computers to the interenet using the wire. refer the following link

http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/products/SB5101/downloads/SB5101_UG_EN.pdf

What is required , is additional pair of hardware ie.
1. Wireless Router(eg linksys or netgear)
or
2.Router/broadband modem(given by the ISP)

Your connection would then be configured through the wireless router , that would give you wireless capability.

Refer to the following link , it gives you the a step by step guide to setting up the wireless connection .
http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/wireless/2003/03/21/home_wifi.html

Best of luck .....

Thanks
mandeep

PS Do let me know if you need more assitance.
