I have a vivitar vivicam 8690 and I cannot hear sound from the videos I have made so far. I have hit default setting and I still cannot hear sound even when played on my PC. The annoying part is I cannot contact the manufacturer online for feedback.I have a vivitar vivicam 8690 and I cannot hear sound from the videos I have made so far. No. The 8690 does not record sound at all. You can add a soundtrack using video-editing software on a computer, but you cannot record one on the camera.
Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.
The ViviCam is designed primarily as a still camera. It does not record sound when in video mode. You can add a soundtrack using video-editing software on a computer, but you cannot record one on the camera.

You can download the complete instruction manual for Vivicam 7690 in PDF format by clicking this link.
You'll require Adobe PDF Reader installed on your computer to view the manual. If it is not already installed on your computer, download it free from: http://get.adobe.com/reader/
Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa.
IMHO, the ViviCam 8690 is the better camera. It has 8.1 Megapixels (5.1 on the 5018), larger preview screen. The 5.1 has 8x digital zoom and the 8690 only has 4x. Everything else pretty much compares.
if the card won't read, put it back in the camera. plug the camera into a usb port and turn the camera on. it will automatically be detected. then open up my computer and click on that removable drive and click and drag ur pics into whichever folder you want them in. I had to do that just now. But my videos have no sound.
I've read several reviews on the Vivitar Vivicams and there is no sound...it's not broken, there is just no sound. I think I'm taking mine back to the store!
