Question about Bernina Activa 130

3 Answers

Operating manual I misplaced the operating manual to my Bernina Activa 130 that shows how to thread the machine, bobbin etc - any ideas of where I can find one. The store where I bought it does not have one and has to order it. Thanks I have an Berina activa 125 but can't remember how to do the buttonholes, it will do the sides but how do I get it to go across.

I don't know how to make a buttonhole. I can do the sides, but I thought I remembered there was a way to make them automatically

I also have a Bernina Activa 125 w/o a manual. (is it contagious?)!
I figured it out by experimenting:
Use a #3 foot
Hit the "0" to make a buttonhole
On the LED you can see the left vertical blinking
Start stitching your first line, stop when you want
Now press the reverse pad
Start stitching
It will stitch in reverse w/ a straight stitch only
This provides you with a "guide line" next to your first one
When you stop at the end, push the reverse pad
Start stitching
It will make 2 small zig zags and then automatically make the end of the hole (wide)
Then it starts moving up your guide line in a mini zig zag
Stop at the end, then push the reverse pad, it will make the wide end of the hole.

Now a keyhole end ... haven't tried it yet, but I think this is the other one the Activa 125 makes

Unfortunately a paysite, although you can download rather cheaply. No affiliation

Hope this helps.

Sorry I got mixed up by the Singer manual request right below your Bernina request. This is more appropriate for you...

Unfortunately this is a purchase site. The closest I could get would be for an Activa 220 230 240 . You can download the manual.
Check the picture on no. 7 and see if this isn't your machine.

My bernina activa 130 wont sew

Fit a new needle, clean and oil the hook race, whether-or-not your manual says it doesn't need it and check that you have some tension on the thread coming out of the bobbin case and top tension unit. Are you threading the top thread with the foot up or down ? You should always thread the machine with the foot up to ensure the thread goes through the tension unit properly.

Issue with Bernina Activa 130: The stitches seem really loose and raised/bumpy. Not sure how else to describe.

Check that you have got the thread correctly routed on the bobbin case and that there is noticeable 'drag' on the thread when you pull the thread out of the bobbin, in its case. If there's little or no drag, it is likely that the bobbin tension needs increasing. I'm assuming you've set the top tension to thered line. A good check is to load two colours of the same thread type top-and-bottom - when sewing on wide zig-zag, the top thread colour should be the only one seen on the top of the material and the bottom colour should be mostly seen on the bottom ... it's OK to have just a spot of the top colour showing on the underside on wide zig-zag/satin stitch.

I have a Bernina 130, the thread from the bobbin is coming out with huge loops, the top thread looks great, but turn over the fabric and you have a mess. Any advice is welcome.

Usually if your bobbin thread is loopy it's because the TOP thread is not threaded right. Try threading it again with the presser foot UP and make sure to get the thread between the upper tension discs. It's just the opposite of what you would think.....if the bobbin thread is loopy, the top thread is threaded wrong, if the top thread is loopy, the bobbin is threaded wrong. Good luck!

either the bobbin thread is not in the lower tension or the lower tension is too loose or the top(upper) tension is too tight.
