Installing Canon PIXMA iP5000

I have tried unsuccessfully to install a Canon PIXMA iP5000 computer to my new Dell Latitude D830 computer. A disck did not come with the printer. I have downloaded drivers but they haven't been recognized during the failed installation process. I will be happy to pay for a successful resolution to this problem. Thanks.

I am trying to get it to run on Windows7. Is this possible?

Download Canon ip5000 driver windows 7. Install the software first before connecting the printer to the PC. DO NOT connect the printer to the PC until adviced to do so during the installation.

It's skipping lines. The lines before and after the skip are smudged

Have you tried doing a Head Cleaning, this is accessible through the printer options in control panel or through the printer itself (check manual).
Find the manual and setup guide here.
You should also try re-installing the drivers also available in the link provided above.
