Question about Washing Machines

Machine wont start

When I push the power button then the start button the machine wont start (does not fill with water). It seems to be an intermitent problem as the other day it did start filling so I paused it opened the machine, put my clothes in, but when pushing resume it didn't start again. My theory is that it thinks the lid is open so it wont go into cycle, but I cant find any machanical indicator for the the machine to know when the lid is open or closed. Any ideas?

It is Fisher and paykel GW608. So if it isnt the lid actuator that is stopping the water from filling, any ideas of what could be? Web site said there is supposed to be a tech manual in the control panel but I can't find one.

Thanks for the advice. There is no error lights indicated; the cycle either goes through the whole cycle without a hitch or it just wont start to begin with (although all the lights indicate it is ready to start). I'll have a look at the blalance switch as you suggest and see if I can find a problem there. I managed to do a successful load yesterday but that was more fluke than anything, 95% of the time it wont start. Thanks again for your advice.

I have a wwwse3160aoww ge profile washing machine. I used it this morning and after it finished washing, I put a big comforter and tried to start it. It would not power on. I removed the comforted and started it again, it is the same problem. Changed the power outlet, but no response. Any ideas?

Have you checked the water pump? I would say it is that or the button may be defective.

F&P washing machine:GW709 doesn't cut out when filling

could b pressure switch tube is blocked or your control board with the pressure switch attached is faulty. empty water from machine, remove pressure switch hose from control board, blow thru tube to remove any blockages, refit tube. turn on cycle, select low water level, push start, after about 30sec"s push start again, that should stop it filling straight away. if the water stops push start again to continue filling. if it doesnt stop filling after restarting the cycle then it is your control module.if the water doesnt stop filling after the 30 sec stop it is the water valves. by the way what country do u live in because $120 seems to b alittle too expensive. please reply 4 more help.

Fisher and paykel smart drive top loader , Wont fill properly .

Well where to start .....
This brand has a hell of a lot of quirks.
The first thing to try is this : With the power on at the wall and the machine off ,push and hold down the start button , then push and hold down the power button you may hear up to 3 beeps at this time (hold down the buttons for 5 seconds then release) turn machine off and turn it back on and just push start button.
What this does is re programes the computer ,then just leave machine to run cycle

Washer powers down during wash cycles

It is most likely a very slow fill problem ,either the cold or hot water supply is restricted and the machine cannot sense the right water temp. and will shut down .

Machine cannot wash properly with a small amount of water.

Ckeck ,the screens in the water valve or at the hoses at the top where the faucets are ,clean them or replace them but never leave them out .

Kenmore Elite HE4T Washing Machine Diagnostic Test Didn't complete and clothes aren't spun as dry as in the past I have a Kenmore Elite HE4T washing machine and I noticed that recently it isn't getting all of the clothes completely dry from the final spin cycle. Thus, the dryer has to run through two cycles to get the clothes dry. I did a bunch of research and made sure there weren't any kinks or blockages in the drain lines; and opened up the bottom of the washer and cleaned out the drain cleanout. I found a few pennies, but everything seemed to be working ok. I ran a load and had the bottom open so that I could make sure the motor, drain and belt were all working properly. The drain does get the water out of the washer, so the clothes aren't sitting in water, they just don't seem to be spun as fast or as long as they used to. I always put it on the "extra high" spin setting no matter which type of load I run. So, I found a way to run the diagnostic test on the washer and it went through C0-C5 (the agitation step) and all worked great, until it wouldn't come out of C5 after at least 10 minutes and go thru C6-C8. I had to cancel the diagnostic test and hit the "drain and spin" button to get all of the water back out of the washer. BTW, the "drain and spin" seems to get the clothes a bit drier than when I have it run through the "normal" cycle with the "extra high" spin. If anyone has any other thoughts, I would really appreciate it. This unit is in a small space with the dryer attached so to take it out and do repairs is a pretty big hassle. It has had a new control board and two new fill valves in the 10+ years that I have owned it. Questions I have: 1.should I remove the entire drain pump to make sure there isn't anything lodged in it? 2. could it be the belt slipping slightly and keeping the spin from reaching its 1200 RPMs? 3. Anything else I may be missing???
