Kitchenaid Architect Side by Side Ice/Water Dispenser problems

Two issues going on. First, the Ice dispenser will only produced crushed ice, even when switching the button to cubed. The second issue is that the light that goes on when you use the water dispenser is not functioning. Bought 2 replacement bulbs from a parts store for this model, but they aren't working. I suspect a short somewhere but don't know how to get inside the door panel to see.

Do you have any tips on where to begin?

Thx

We have exactly the same problem. Unfortunately, according to the repairman who came to repair our dispensor, the only repair is a new door (approx. $800 plus labor).

He tried splicing the wires cut by the bottom hinge but said it probably wouldn't hold for long. According to his experience, he's seen several customers with this same issue - ALL Kitchenaid customers! He's never seen it on any other brand because Kitchenaid was the only one to run the wiring over a metal hinge where they constantly rub and wear down.

Good news is that I saw another blog today in which a customer had contacted Kitchenaid who seemed quite aware of this "manufacturing defect". They provided the door at no cost and the customer provided the labor for installation.

Good luck - I'm calling customer service tomorrow!

Most common place fora problem is in wire harness under freezer door hinge, within the weblike wireharnes likly to find a broken or split wire. before lookin for it follow harness back a few inches and unplug the harness connector(just incase you hit a live wire you'll short somethin out. its not the easiest place to do it but you would need to remove the screws attaching it to hinge, perhaps cut a plastic wire tie to reconnect wire, straigh wire connector only way, not enough room for wire nut,,,That is if you find a broken wire of course. Oh by the way wire harness not replaceable need toorder complete freezer door , only ohter repair

Ice maker is not making ice

Even though the water dispenser is OK you need to make sure the tray(s) in the ice maker are filling. The filter valve, located to the rear of the ice maker can freeze over and stop water flow. Check the supply line for the ice maker, it may be separate from the water dispenser.

Kitchenaid no water, but ice

first thing i would check here is my water resivoir, on these models it has a tendency to freeze,, hit the tank and upper line with a hair dryer for several minutes then give the water a try....
barring that it may be time to change your water filter even if the sensor has not picked it up yet

Kitchenaid kscs25fjss01 (2002) front panel not working

Hi

If  The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

The ice maker is producing ice poorly When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

My ice maker has stopped making ice. I have Kitchenaid Architect II KSRS25FTBL.Water dispenser is working fine. Ice maker is turned on.

Could be the solenoid valve. It is usually located where the water line connects to the frig. The valve may have trash in it.

Ice maker not getting water after changing filter

Check the following:
Is the freezer door closed completely?
Is the ice storage bin installed correctly?
Is there ice in the storage bin?
Has the ice frozen in the storage bin?
Is ice stuck in the delivery chute?
Has the wrong ice been added to the storage bin? Use only
cubes produced by the current ice maker.
Has the ice melted around the auger (metal spiral) in the
ice bucket?
Dump the ice cubes and clean the ice storage
bin.
Is the ice dispenser stalling while dispensing “crushed”
ice?
Change the ice button from “crushed” to “cubed.” If
cubed ice dispenses correctly, depress the button for
“crushed” ice and begin dispensing again.
Has the dispenser arm been held in too long? Ice will stop
dispensing when the arm is held in too long. Wait 3 minutes
for dispenser motor to reset before using again.

The ON/OFF switch is located on the top right side of the freezer
compartment.
To turn the ice maker on, slide the control to the ON (left) position.
To manually turn the ice maker off, slide the control to the OFF
(right) position.
NOTE: Your ice maker has an automatic shutoff. The ice maker
sensors will automatically stop ice production, but the control will
remain in the ON (left) position

REMEMBER:
Allow 24 hours to produce the first batch of ice. Discard the
first three batches of ice produced.
The quality of your ice will be only as good as the quality of the
water supplied to your ice maker. Avoid connecting the ice
maker to a softened water supply. Water softener chemicals
(such as salt) can damage parts of the ice maker and lead to
poor quality ice. If a softened water supply cannot be avoided,
make sure the water softener is operating properly and is well
maintained

The Dispenser Lock (on some models)
Your dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to prevent
unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.
NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the product, to
the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the
dispenser levers. The ice and water dispensers will not work.
Style 1: Press the LOCK BUTTON to lock the dispenser. Press the
UNLOCK button to unlock the dispenser.
Style 2: Press and hold the LOCK OUT button to lock the
dispenser. Press and hold the LOCK OUT button a second time to
unlock the dispenser.
