Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

The L Button is Broken!

I dropped my Nintendo DS and now the L button won't work. Two retailers have told me that it will cost too much to repair so don't bother. I want to find out how much it will cost. Do I have to send it to Australia or is there a place in NZ that will look at it and provide a quote? Also, do I have to send it through a retailer or can I just send it direct? Thanks for helping.

The button looks fine, and it is just as mobile as the R button so I reckon something inside is broke. If I ask someone who is into electronics, might I find the right person to look at it, or is it really specialised?

I dropped my Nintendo DS and now the L button won't work.
Next to the light on the top right corner I can see something that looks plastic like. My actual L button appears fine. Also my screen flips back too easily and it turns completly white at times. Please help.

It depends on what exactly broke. Is it just the exterior button or the actual button that is soldered onto the motherboard? The exterior button is cheap to replace. The interior button isn't all that expensive but to get someone to repair it might cost you a bit. It's actually all really simple to do. I repair Nintendo handhelds all the time and resell them. I'm in the US or I would offer to help ya.

No, it's really simple to unsolder and solder a new one on. The part isn't that hard to come by. Things to watch when opening the DS Lite are the Power Button (people break the slider off the button trying to get the case off (be careful). Also, don't disconnect the LCD ribbon cables from the board if you can keep from it. There is a small one for the touch screen and people break the connector all the time.

It's very easy to break things on the DS Lite. It's a great system but not the sturdiest.

DS Screen

If the nintendo has dropped most probably the LCD screen will be broken. If it is broken you can replace it for around € 20.

Ds is broken

Opening up the nintendo ds is not that difficult, there are a lot of movies on youtube showing you how to. Just open up the ds with a tri wing screwdriver (you can buy it for a dollar or 2 at or ect...) and take the button out and put it back in place.

Nintendo DS Lite Repair

The cost for repair is $58 which includes the power button part. If the shoulder button needs replacement or any other part there will be more parts charges. You will also be responcable for shipping on both sides.

Left button doesn't work

Sounds like the pad on the board could be broken if the button itself isn't sticking down when pushed. If so you need to send it to Nintendo if it's in it's warrenty period. If not you are correct it'll cost you to have it replaced.

Ds ( not lite )

It is very difficult to repair a broken touch screen with out special tools. If you call Nintendo and send it to them, they will most likely be able to repair it.

Anyway you might of presses it too hard or it's possible it was just broken. I knew a lady who had a ds, opened it and there was NO sound. So anyways if you don't fin a sollution i'd recommend bringing it back for an exchange to the retailer before the warranty runs out. Sorry i don't have a better answer :(

Broken L button...

If you are confident in taking it apart, just compare the L button to the R button, you should see what the problem is. And since you already have it open it will make it easy to replace what needs to be replaced, which is probably just the L button itself.
