volume control stays at maximum and stays on screen, when this happens remote wont control volume or on/off. And! unit is going black intermittantly like shutting off but the green on/off light is still on.

Thanks for the solution, what about the going black. It seems as if it is losing signal or something. Is it all part of the controls on the front of the unit? I checked the cable connections, everything fine there.

    Thanks again

You are probably talking about the FMT board. I think you can have this board repaired at PTS 18008447871

Just from what you've described it could be any number of things. One of the more common problems is the convergence Ic8c00 Stk393-110 Mits. Part # 267p155010 and the fuse 9a04... On a scale of 1 to 10 and 10 being the most difficult the task is about an 8 to replace and trace test the convergence circuit. You can however check and see if 9a04 is open, and if so, then you know where the problem is and can be more informed when asking a shop about what they charge to repair this problem. Take a VU or DMM meter set on continuity and loacte 9a04. That location number will be printed on the board right next to the component you're looking for... Next test it for continuity. If you get no reading it's open and the convergence amp is the culprit. Hope this helps. Bill
