After replacing a broken bolt & lug nut the brake light flashes

I just replaced a broken bolt and lug nut on the front driver side tire and applied a spray to quiet the brakes. Now the brake light on the dash board is constantly flashing. Could there be something else wrong with the brakes or line?

How do I replace all five lug nuts on front driver side wheel?

They are pressed in from the backside of the wheel hub that the studs stick out from. And not like needing a heavy press- once you get the old studs driven out (usually works with a hammer or small mallet), you can easily draw the new studs right into a snug fit by using the lug nuts, the new ones you just bought along with the 5 new studs, available at most any parts store.

See it's not the lug nuts that are broken, those nuts tighten the tire to the hub by the lug nut studs that the tire fits over. It is the studs themselves that are breaking off. This is common enough that parts stores carry replacements. A chevy dealership might have just your size in stock, if you don't mind paying extra high dealership charges, but it might not be that much for these rather inexpensive items. In a lot of cases, the studs can be removed from the hub as it sits, but there are cases where the hub must be removed from the vehicle for stud replacement. You can eyeball it and pretty much tell if the studs can be removed easily, after you take the wheel (tire) off. For any work on the vehicle, don't rely on the jack. Use blocks or jack-stands always.

Broken front wheel stud 2003 grand caravan

jack up vehicle, remove tire. knock out old stud with a hammer and punch. put new stud in from back if need be. to draw it up tight.use a lug nut with something under it so when you tighten the nut it brings the stud into position. remove the nut you put on. and replace the tire. good-day! if the brakes and rotor are in the way. you will have to remove them to replace the wheel stud.

My 91 Honda Accord EX wagon has a broken lug on front driver side. How do i fix it, & will it be ok in the meantime with the three lug nuts on tight?

It is not recommended to drive it like that. It's not too bad to replace but it depends on your level of mechanical skill, You need to remove the brake caliper and disc and then you can simply knock the remains of the broken stud out with a hammer and punch, To fit the new one insert the stud and then put a large nut over the thread, then fit the lug nut and tighten it to pull the stud into the hub, then simply remove the lug nut and put it all back together.

How to replace broken lug nut

What you do to replace a broken lug is, first you have to remove your tire and wheel from the vehicle(after you loosen the other lugs and jack it up of course) Then you are going to have to get the rotor off but in order to do that you have to remove your brake calipers and mounting bracket. There should be 2 bolts holding your caliper(the thing that your brake shoes are sitting in) remove those two bolts and take caliper off. set off to side or on frame somewhere(do not let hang from hose). Next you need to take off mounting bracket which should also have 2 bolts securing it to the vehicle. Remove those 2 bolst and set bracket aside. After that remove your rotor, it should slide right off. On the back of the rotor you should be able to see the tops off your lugs, find the broken one and punch it out with a hammer and punch hitting it from the front to the back. After you get the old 1 out just stick the new 1 in. It won't go in very far because it will be very tight. Use the lug nut and tighten it down to draw it through so that it is flush. Hope I was able to help you out.
