Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

JVC 36 I picked this TV up at no cost. It is in perfect cosmetic shape. A61 chassis. The on-off switch is broken off, just the paddle. THe fuse was loose, after tightening the fuse holder, there is power to the board, however either with the remote or the on / off button, the blue relay on the board clicks, and will not latch on. I can see a small spark in the relay. Bad contact? I read on some other JVC posts about C926, a 1000MFD cap that goes bad in the stand by power supply circuit. Any ideas would be very helpful. ALso, how can I tell if its a bad picture tube? Like I said, the TV is in very nice shape. No burning smells or smoke coming out.... THanks

Most of the time the cap you speak of tends to buldge at the top of it . The spark you speak of is just the two contacts joining . With the tv unplugged you can clean them with a fine sand paper and blow out any dust if you think this is your problem. The picture tube would not cause this problem , Only real way is with the tv on and looking at the pictures brightness and color . Also this tv shuts down due secondary shorts - vertical problems - horizontal problems . Any more help after you check it out let me know . Good luck

How to fix a broken antenna input plug on a toshiba tv

These input plugs are often soldered on to a printed circuit board mounted to the internal chassis of the TV. Much of the circuitry in a TV is lethal when switched on, and in some types, even when not plugged in for a time. Therefore I'd advise taking it to a repair shop and asking for a cost estimate.

With parts and labour that might even approach the cost of a new one, for which you get a warranty.

JVC 36

Hi Dave: "My JVC 36" TV will not power on and has a blinking power light."

That means that the protection circuit has started because a fault had been detected.

If this happened after a power surge it is likely a faulty PSU board.

Try first leaving the set unplugged from power outlet for few hours, this will drain power, reset the protector, and fix problem related to accumulation of electrostatic charges on PSU power capacitors.

If unplugging does not work, that means that there is an internal fault.
If this happened after a power problem of some kind, that means that probably one of the capacitors on powr board had blown, and must be replaced.
The TV must be tested by a technician to find the fault.

Hello, My Panasonic ct-36HL44 won't turn on. It's complestely dead. Yesterday and for the last 4 years---its been perfect, completely reliable. What happened? Is there a fuse inside the chassis and can I...

I had the exact same problem with this model a few months ago. Repairman came out to my house and told me that Panasonic is well aware of the problem but never issued a recall on it. He then charged me $150 to take off the back of the tv and replace a blown fuse with another fuse with a slightly higher voltage rating. Took him all of 5 minutes. He took off back of tv and the fuse is located, if you are standing at the back of the tv, on the bottom in the left hand corner. You can't miss it. I wish I could tell you which fuse he put in but I didnt see it. Sorry. Try it for yourself and you might be able to save $149.50, b/c I doubt that fuse cost much more then 50 cents. Good luck.

TV Won't power on

You can search this database for the service info you seek about your tv here:

Most service manuals with schematics cost about $27.95 for the PDF version of it, otherwise the paper version is about $15.00 more for handling and shipping.

You will need the chassis number of the unit in question in order to search for it. I hope this helps!

Good Luck!

I would suggest to try checking the fuses first, voltage regulator(s), horizontal output transistors and lastly the flyback transformer.
