Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Roland DS-50A as computer speakers. Having problems.

Hi

I've had my DS-50's for a few years, and they're fantastic! Hooked up with my Alesis QS8, they sound fantastic.

I wondered, since I do a lot of editing and engineering with music on my computer, how they might sound on my Dell E521, with the SoundBlaster X-Fi sound card.

When I connect them via the 1/4" male to the monitor/1/8" male to the sound card, I get nothing. I realize these are digital monitors, and I suppose I should connect them that way (digital/digital), but I don't knoe EXACTLY what kind of cable is my best option.

It's in your hands, folks. I anxiously await your valued opinions and suggestions!

Sincerely
Dave

You want balanced analongue XLR's or 1/4" TRS, the choice is yours.

Hello there!

First Things first:
1) Simple, good sound of your speakers, need a good cable, (gold ) or ( copper)
for now, you should go to Radio Shack and buy a specific cable for this Monitor and for your X-Fi sound card. remember, the quality on cables!!!
for this, you need to go with your monitor manual. They may know the specific cable you need.

QS8 keyboard. Why is volume in organ mode much louder than piano mode when I switch between modes without touching volume slide?

On organ mode, in general, almost all brands of the modern keyboard, velocity setting is not enabled. Setting velocity is used to determine how much the level of the sound that follows how strongly you press the keys. It is really just to imitate the sound of vintage organs, which in the past, electronic organ technologi not use the velocity on the keys. So, how strong / slow we press the keys, the sound level will remain the same.
At the Piano mode, modern keyboard using setting velocity. This also to imitate an acoustic piano, which, if we press the keys slowly, the sound level will be slow as well, and vice versa.
So, in your case,at the same volume slider, try to play on the organ modes, note level. Moving to the piano mode and press the keys securely powered (full power). Then the sound level should be equal to the organ mode.
On modern keyboards, also included organ sound that added velocity setting. Usually found on the user bank.

Mine works when plugged in, but dead when not plugged. Found fuse, subtly hidden in lower part of AC power receptacle; pried out with small screw driver. Looked good & passed ohmmeter check. I loved the beast when it functioned. It spent a year in the garage; it didn't work when I brought it in. Charge light on for 8 seconds after plugging in, then off.

I I have the same problem. I do not see any visible damage with the power supply and am assuming it's somewhere else. I am talking to Alesis but don't yet know what I'll end up having to do. Have you solved the issue?

The display does not work. The sounds are still

The LED Panel is dead.
Alesis has a parts company that they can refer you to for the proper LED panel. Price is high, however.

Contact Alesis 401-568-3131 or NuMark for the Alesis contact info. I was able to find QS6 and QS8 parts through this resource.

Ihave an Alesis D4 drum sampler.I have not used in several years I have hooked it up now an everything lites up but I cant get any sound out of it. with triggers or pads?

Some of the Alesis products have a setup and data memory backed up by a battery. It is POSSIBLE that your battery expired and took the sound memory with it.

Investigate if you have a battery in yours (buried in the guts) and check the voltage. It should be above about 3 volts.

If it is below that, replace the battery and find another unit to clone the data from.
