Question about Dell A940 All-In-One InkJet Printer

What to do now....

Dell A940 Color works fine. Black ink doesn't work at all. What to do now.

I've had that problem. There's something wrong with that particular model in terms of the black ink slot. My recommendation would be to upgrade to regular printer or HP All-in-One and keep the A940 strictly as a scanner.

Try this:
Go to Google Maps, select one and print it out. Does black work then? (On mine it does)
If you try to print an e-mail with both color and black fonts, are the black ones missing from the print? (On mine, the black letters are missing)
How about a scan which contains both color and black features? (Again, both black and color works for me)
And finally, if you scan an all-black font document after hitting "copy...black", you get nothing....but do the same thing after selecting "copy...color"...and it'll print the black.
I'm sorry I haven't found the answer as yet, but maybe if you try some of these little experiments I did this morning, then it'll catch someone's eye and we'll both have a solution (which may cost more than a new printer!

Will not print in color


Why bother? A now printer will cost you about the same as a set of inks anyway. The only real problem is adjusting your psychology to allow for obsolescence.

After replacing the color cartridge, color copies are not working


Color cartridge is probably dry. Contact Dell Tech support as the cartridges have their own warranties and will be replaced even if the printer is no longer in warranty....

No black print


I just installed a new black ink cartridge and it won't print. My new color one will. It worked fine until it ran out of ink and I replaced it with a new one.

Test your cartridges.

Remove the color ink cartridge then lower the cover of your printer. If the error message displays again, replace the black cartridge with a new one (or return the new one). Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black ink cartridge then lower the cover. If the error message displays again, replace the color cartridge with a new color cartridge.
Note: My manual indicated that the printer might have detected a short circuit in a cartridge. I returned a month old black cartridge got a new one and my printer is working fine now. Good luck.

Dell A940 smeared printing


Our Dell AIO A940 stopped printing black ink (it went throught the motions but he paper came out blank). Finally got it to print by selecting:

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

My dell a940 all in one printer no longer prints in color


Sometimes this happens with most printers i advice that you get hold of this software..called Virtual Printer it takes care of many of the printer problems...It wil really save you lot of time and hair!Atleast  it woked for all of my 2 printers till now..

Dell A940 Color Ink Problem


Do check the option and make sure that you have not inadvertently set it to black only- This could be computer wise or on the A940 panel. If you are sure all is well here Remove the scanner software and reinstall. Email Dell to See what they have to say
