Re: Blue Horizontal Aligning Adjustment on TP55D81
The output IC in the blue convergence section is bad or there is a loose connection in that area .If it is the IC's they are STK392-020. Make sure they are if your going to do this yourself. You would need to check the resistors and fuses that might protect this section . If you take it to a shop avg. price would be 250.00 to $300.00 . More maybe if they come to your house . Do not use gerenic's as they do not hold up as long. Good luck

it could be that the tv convergence circuit is going bad. One shure way of finding out is to go to the tv feature menu(picture, audio etc.) and select the customer convergence setting, you should get a cross hair pattern(cross in middle of screen). that cross should be white and by aligning the red or blue colors they should move left, right, up or down
That may be a simple adjustment; there are two synchronization signals embedded in the received signal, one for the vertical 'lock,' the other for horizontal.
Your vertical lock has changed for whatever reason and any competent technician should be able to locate make the adjustment.
Without service literature available for the set, it might be tough to find for anyone untrained and I can't tell you where it is located on your set.

Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.comand do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix. Here is an example photo....
NOTE: Manual Convergence settings ARE LOST if the customer returns to AUTO
Magic Focus mode. (More Details) this situation is normal.
Bottom line: This is caused by two issues,
The Centering is off of any or all CRTs. (Don't forget Red and Blue Offset values).
The Horizontal Size needs to be changed by increasing H. Size by 20mm.
Readjust the Horizontal Size to the NEW specifications.
These are different that the original Service Manual.
They have been increased by 20mm on 51", 57" and by 25mm on the 65".
Before replacing DCUs, Please CHECK and confirm if any of the three color center alignments are off and readjust the Horizontal Size to the New specifications..
Clear DCU data by holding down the DCAM "Service Only Switch" and then POWER.
Make sure the Green is centered.
Make sure the Red and Blue is offset from center with respective offset value according to the SM information.
Readjust the Horizontal Size to the NEW specifications. These are different that the original Service Manual. They have been increased by 20mm on the 51" and the 57" and on the 65" it's increased by 25mm.
There IS NO NEED to replace DCUs.
The DCUs are not defective...All that is needed is to confirm the Centering Adjustment for the three colors and adjust the Horizontal Size to the NEW specifications. Adjust if any color is found to be out of adjustment specifications. If you don't understand this then you need live chat!
