I removed an old fan/light combo from my bathroom and put a new one in. The wiring comes off two switches wired together (3 wires total) and I need to know how to wire to the new fan/light combo. There is a blue and white wire for the fan and a black and white wire for the light plus the ground. How do I connect to get it to work seperately like before???

Here is illustration showing Black Hot and White Neutral in attic junction box, as you described. With black-red-blue wires connected as shown in Broan manual. And each device connected to White neutral wire in junction box.

You have access to attic, and can drop another cable down wall into switch box. This will give necessary total 4 wires between switch and Broan

Key start point: Junction box in attic has the Black Hot wire and White neutral coming from circuit breaker box.
This cable powers the junction box.

There are 3 cables in junction box, each cable with black and white.
Cable from breaker box with Hot and Neutral. Cable going to light switch.
Another cable jumps power to next box in the circuit, and will be reconnected when finished, black-to-black white-to-white

Old light switch in wall was single pole.
1) How many cables are inside switch box? Just one cable from attic with black and white wire?
2) 3-way switch is the wrong switch, unless you mean 3-pole triple switch with 3 screw terminals on one side of device?

1) A wiring diagram can be mistaken because wire colors vary.
That's why electricians don't guess, they test.

2) Look at device to be replaced and note what color screw each wire goes to before disconnecting wires.
If old device is single pole switch, then there are 2 brass screws, and one of these screws is connected to Hot wire, and the other screw is connected to Load wire (light, fan, motor, pump)

3) Separate wires inside box for testing.
Do not untwist any wires.
Tape tester leads to wood sticks to keep hands away from power.
Turn power ON.
Test each wire to bare ground wire.
Tester lights up on Hot. Hot wire connects to dark-colored screw on combo device.

4) Hot is identified.
Test Hot to all other wires, except bare ground wire.
Tester lights up on Neutral wire. In a single-pole switch box Neutral wires are usually twisted together and covered with wire nut. Neutral wire connects to silver screw on new device.

5) Load wire that goes to light,fan, motor, pump connects to brass screw on new combo device.

6) If you do not have a Neutral wire in your switch box, then outlet will not work.
You can connect bare ground wire to silver screw and have outlet work, but this is not code, and definitely not recommended for a child's room or any room near water pipes or faucets or metal pipes of any kind. You need to add a Neutral wire and/or install GFCI protected device for any bathroom area.

These in-wall timers have extra wire to operate the electronics located inside timer.
You said your old switch has 3 wires.
The new timer can only replace on-off switch that has 2 brass screws and a green screw.
If old switch has 2 brass screws and a dark screw, that is a 3-way switch.
Typically a 3-way switch is found at both ends of hallway.
The Woods 95008 countdown timer is not made to replace 3-way:

Here's what to do:
1) Switch has 2 wires (plus bare ground wire). Take switch wires and connect them to timer-black-wire and timer-red-wire. Choose either one for now.
2) In back of electric box are white wires twisted together and covered with wire nut. Connect timer-white to these wires. This wire will power timer electronics.
3) If electric box does not have white wires described above, then connect timer-white to bare ground, along with timer-green wire.
4) Turn on electricity, and push override button located below the OFF button. If lights come on, timer is wired correctly. If lights do not come on, then reverse timer-red and timer-black wires.

Leviton triple switch

Nutone looks like an ordinary three-switch combo being marketed as a bathroom 'fan switch.'
The screws on the device would tell the story.

Look at the Leviton screws:
The switch has dark-colored screw on one side >> the hot from breaker always connects to dark screws.
Other side of switch has 3 silver-colored screws, but these can be brass colored screws > the wires to fan light and heater connect to each of these screws.

Most likely the Nutone switch is identical to the Leviton
I say this because the descriptor on Amazon describes it as a 'fan' switch.
It's being marketed as a bathroom fan-light combo switch >>> so it looks like an ordinary three-combo switch

Ok you only have two switches, so you would use one switch for your bathroom light, and the other for both the fan and the light, the light will come on when you turn the fan on.Connect the incoming black (hot) wire to both switches. Then connect the black wire to the switch you want for your light. Connect the other black to the second switch that goes to your fan and light. Connect the three white wires together (neutral) Connect all ground wires together, and leave a pigtail to connect to the ground terminal on the light switch. If you want separate switches for light in the fan and fan, you will need another conductor and a three gang switch.

I suggest you cut 3 pigtails out of your black wire (about 5-6" each and strip them so you can put a nut to tie them all together on the main wire, then do the same for your grounds using green 5-6" strips of wire and then connect all 3 switches with the pigtails to their proper locations. This WILL fix your problem.

yes, maybe- if there is power in the switch then you can steal power from it.. Take off the coverplate and remove the switch. If there are two seperate cables in there with a black and white or a black white and red then there is power there.. You will however need to run one more single wire to the fan, and another switch. You can get a double switch that will fit in the single box..There is one other way to turn the fan on and off, but the light has to be on for the fan to be on, without running new wires. Get a simple pull cord switch and mount it in the face of the fan housing. Then find the black wire running to the fan and seperate it where it ties into the power. Connect the black wire from the fan to one of the wires on the pull switch (either one) and connect the power wire to the other wire on the switch.

Wiring a bathroom combination vent, heater, light 3 way switch means more wires. In brief, you need to run two cables - one a two wire and one a three wire from the switch to the fan.

Incoming power will have white black and ground.

The two wire cable for the switch to the fan will have wht, blk, and ground.

The three wire will have red, blk, wht, and grnd.

The switch will likely have 2 blacks and a red coming from it, with two blacks and a red on one side, and a single black on the other.

The fan should have a red, blue, green, black, and white.

On the fan end: Group all green/copper grounds together and use a wire nut to fasten them together. Tape the nut to the wires.
There will be five white wires coming through. For ease of handling, using wire nuts, connect two on one nut and three on the other.
connect the blue to a blck. Connect one red to one black, and the other red to the other black.

The switch will have one red going into the 3 wire cable, a black going to the 3 wire cable, and a black form incoming power to the side opposite the 3 wires, and a blck going to the two wire cable.

There. Confused?

Let's say you originally only had one switch (to operate the fan). And at the fan you have only one black, one white, and one ground (bare or green). You can still put in a fan/light combo. but both the light and the fan will always come on together when you flip the switch. To do this you'd connect the black from the switch to the black AND the blue on the fan and connect the white from the switch to both whites on the fan and connect the ground from the switch to either a green or bare wire on the fan or to a green screw on the fan housing somewhere (whatever is available).
