My cd rom driver doesn't install. It's a Sony ASUS CD-S520/A4 and HL-DT_ST DVD-RW GWA-4040B drive. Both of them the driver doesn't install properly. I have uninstalled and installed again via plug and play but I get the error msg: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) What should I do?

If this dvd burner comes with a cd driver, have it installed, or try connecting to the IDE cable, posibly make it a slave on your hardisk.

the connection wire of your laptop with DVD ROM has been got tampered . nothing to worry it is just alittle problem go to any repair shop & get it repaired. pls rate my solution thankyou
open explorer and go to 'My Computer'
right click the DVD/CD-ROM Drive
click on the tab labeled 'Recording' (usually on the far right)
click the option that is labeled 'Enable CD recodring on this drive'
...and POOF, magic happens...
my HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082N has a problem i cant up date the drivers in my computer it is missing so if in incert a cd it cant be found my HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082N has a yellow exclamation an status Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
