A large capacitor between your battery and the amp may help. Your alternator is most likely strained by the amp's power consumption. If you can't get a stronger alternator or suitable capacitor, you may nbeed to replace your battery and alternator more often than normal.

Why does my MTX thunder 702x amplifier cut on and off

Check fuse on amp under hood. Also, check wire connections makes none of them are loose and move your RCA jacks around to see if you have a short.

Connection

My guess is a short in your 12 volt remote turn on wire or you have it wired incorrectly behind the dash. If you're sure you have a good ground and a solid battery wire the only other issue can be your remote wire. Your remote wire is what kicks the amp on and illuminates the power light.

MTX Thunder series 7402 Amp cutting out at Hard pound.

Most likely the ohm load is too low, if you have the subs wired in parallel rewire them in series and see if that resolves the problem. if not then you do not have enough battery power to support the draw that the amplifier pulls. if the vehicles voltage drops below 11.5 volts the amplifier will momentarily shut off, similar to how the lights in your house dim when the a/c cuts on due to the sudden power draw. hope this helps. p.s. if you cant afford another battery right away, lowering the crossover frequency to around 65hz will greatly reduce the amount of current necessary to keep the amp pumping. (in my opinion it sound better that way anyhow.)

I have a mtx thunder 421d. I've had it about 5 years, about a week ago it started going out from time to time. I checked my hot wire and fuses, they are ok.Now the amp stop working, and dont light up. Will...

If you have proof of purchase(invoice or receipt) showing the purchase date and you are still within the warranty period then yes it would be repaired by MTX under the warranty guidlines, and by the way MTX is great at customer service and they are great to work with(very fair)!!!!
Keep in mind that the seal on the bottom of the amp cannot be broken or that will void warranty coverage.
Give them a call, you will be glad you did!

Has mtx stop selling the mtx ta81001?

Hello t3h_b,

The MTX web site shows the amp as a current product.

http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/ sells the amp and claims to have it in stock. However, MTX lists only 2 authorized online resellers:
www.crutchfield.com and www.sonicelectronix.com

Crutchfield doesn't list the amp at all and SonicElectronix shows it as "discontinued". I'd recommend going to MTX's contact page and ask them directly. They'll usually respond within a day or two.

Hope this helps.

Sub hum when amp goes up

I am assuming the following: The Amp power is 1/0 gauge wire (huge) and runs directly to the fuse then to the battery + terminal, and you have a 1/0 gauge wire to an excellent ground. If you are missing any of these (esp the fuse) you are flirting with disaster. This Amplifier draws upwards of 100 Amps with a 1 ohm load! (If you are using this for competition you may also use a second battery to help dampen the noise, a high output alternator, and or a capacitor (which should be connected to the 4 gauge input terminals on your amp). I also assume that: When the engine isn't running the "humm" is not present, and when running if you remove the RCA connections from the AMP the noise should also go away. This amp has line level adaptability connecting speaker level inputs directly into the RCA terminals (you must set the "input sens" switch to "X10") ... so you may get rid of the PAC converter this may help get rid of the noise. For more info call MTX tech service at 800 CALL MTX. And please use ear protection at high levels ... trust me Tinnitus is no fun!

If the amp produces no boom with no signal input cables connected, I'd suggest using an LOC.
