Are you using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Some may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Walmart sells these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may slap yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

Why does my camera keep saying battery exhausted even when I change the batteries?

If batteries leaked in the camera the connections IN the camera may be dirty. Putting in a new battery takes care of the battery connection but not the camera connections. This is why it is very important to take out batteries when you are done taking photos. When you want to shoot again you put the batteries back in and set the time and date. You MAY be able to clean the connections with a pencil eraser. If you use a pencil eraser please blow out the dust from the eraser. If you are positive the camera then I cannot help you here.

When I change batteries I loose date/time etc.

There isn't another battery built into it. From what I undersatnd once you have placed batteries into the camera or connected the AC adaptor into the camera for 2 hours the camera will retain the date/time settings for 6 hours.

If they haven't been in the camera for two hours and you remove them the camera will loose the settings. If they have been in the camera for over two hours the camera will keep the settings for 6 hours. This leads me to think that a capacitor on the board inside the camera charges up for two hours and then slowly discharges over 6. Hope this helps.

Batteries replaced but still says change them

hi,
I had the same problem; check carefully the yellow note from the camera box which says : use ONLY alkaline or rechargeable NI-Metal or oxyride batteries - DO NOT USE Ni-Cd nor lithium nor nickel nor manganese batteries. try that and pls let me know if it helped or if any other solution worked.

Peter

Screen says change batteries, and then turns off

Are you still using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Some may have reached their shelf life, and though brand new, may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Retailers sell these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more).
