Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5100 All-In-One Printer
. .running xp and installing from dic supplied with printer. everything appears normal but installation does not proceed past connection with the usb cable. no error notice, just ploughs on for ever.
Need help to make black ink work only color ink is working , what to do next if both cartridges are brand new?

If you receive that error there might be something wrong with home center or some components of your computer so to check, try to scan using camera and scanner wizards and try to print using other software and when it does then try to uninstall and reinstall the software to see if it will open if still fails then uninstall and reinstall .net framework 2.0.. Note: make sure you are the administrator of your PC

During the install, dont connect the printer when it tells you to. close the window that askes you to connect the usb cable to the printer and PC. The install should finish.
Leave the printer disconected.
Reboot the PC. If easyshare was installed you have to set it up.. If you did not select Web Install during the install then, after reboot and easyshare setup, open the Home Center software. There should be a message saying there are software updates availible. If not click the [?] on the top right to open the side pannel and click the bottom link that says check for updates. Run and install the updates. after its done then connect the printer.
If you did not need updates then try uninstalling and downloading the software directly from Kodak.com (link near bottom of this message)
If the printer still is not detected then try another USB port on your PC .. the PC ports on the back of the PC that are directly connected to the motherboard are the best. You can also try a new usb cable, or hook up a powerd USB hub between the printer and the PC. Also try unhooking all other USB devices (not printer and keyboard) then connect the printer.
If you could not get the updates through the home center you can get them at kodak.com (link bellow)
