Question about Canon Pixma MP500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printing When I print pages I have a long thick black line of ink going down the middle of the paper on the back side. I've tried deep cleaning and it doesn't seem to solve the problem. I've had this printer for about 2-3 years now. and this just started happening about a month or two ago. Can you help me with this problem? would appreciate it. Madden Page

My Canon PIXMA MP500 occasionally leaves about a 1/4" black strip down the back side of the paper. Reprinting the page helps. The problem comes and goes. I followed all of the maintenance steps including cleaning the bottom plate. No relief.

thick black line going down middle of underside of printed page - tried cleaning procedures, changing cartridges, everything ... please help

I get the thick black line as well. I think it has something to do with the large roller on the roller bar which pushes the paper out/pulls it in. If I clean that roller off through the paper shoot, it has gone away for a short time, but returns. Can the rollers stick, be cleaned or replaced in any way? The printer works great otherwise.

My Brother MFC-7420 Printer always prints black lines and splotches down the left side of my paper. This happens whether I'm scanning or printing from my PC. When I looked at my drum, it appears a

If you are seeing vertical streaks/black lines your primary corona wire is dirty and or the fax scanner may be dirty.
1)To clean the corona wire you take the drum unit and toner cartridge and place it on disposable paper to avoid spilling.
2) Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by sliding the blue tab from right to left several times.
3) Return the blue tab and snap it into the home position.
4) Reinstall the drum unit and toner cartridge.
5) Close the front cover.
Caution: if you do not return the blue tab to the home position it may repeat the black lines.

Black smudges on printed page

Are you sure this is a Designjet 450 (large format printer) and not a Deskjet 450 (portable printer)? The following assumes you have wispy black streaking on the printed side of the paper. If the streaking is on the back side then post more details of the printer model and the issue.

In either case the most likely cause is a buildup of fibers on the underside of the printheads or carriage, causing wisps of black ink to be dragged on the paper when the carriage reverses direction. You can clean the printer as shown at the following (though the details will be somewhat different for the Designjet or Deskjet....).

Black smear of ink at end of lines

Please load the printer with at least 10 sheets of plain paper then press the start button. This will dry or clean any ink found on the rollers.
Continue to run blank pages through the printer until no more ink is found on the paper, then attempt printing. If ink stains, streaks or smudges are still present, the printer may need service.

Canon Pixma MP 800 printing Issue (heavy black line on opposite side of print page

I have exactly the same problem with a Canon Pixma MP800, I have cleaned the rollers, changed the ink cartridges and reset the printer. It will print a few pages cleanly then dump black ink on the roller which leaves a heavy black line on the back of the page. It fades away after printing about 10 pages and then a few pages later appears again. The printer is two years old and it looks as if I must buy another. Should I buy another Canon?

Bad printing

just for info my printer wasn't printing much of anything black and color. If you hold down the middle button till the light on the top blinks twice it will give you a color test page. it should give you a grid to the right and to the left it should have the letter H and two blocks. If it doesn't you hit the middle button until the light blinks once and that is the cleaning. I have had to do almost 25 cleanings just today to finally get some results. Hope this helps you.
