Re: Comaptible inks and original maufacturer product
Since quality is important to you, I would recommend staying with the OEM supplies. With compatible ink you could get early print head failure and you may not get the yield you expect, and end up spending the same amount of money. If you do go compatible, buy from a reputable supplier.

Hello, there are two ink cartridges for this printer, 336 Black & 337 Color, the cheapest way to buy these is at costo,Please do not refill your old ink cartridges as the printer will on most ocassions tell you to remove the faulty cartridge, however you may get away with a refill only once. I changed to a Brother MFC it was easier to install, prints faster,it has fax, scan, copy phto capture, you will need to buy use printer lead for this machine as it does not come supplied, the bonus of having the Brother MFC 235C is that the 4 ink cartridges are half the price of one HP Black Cartridge, check out www.999inks.co.uk
Look out for a mfc 240c sale. You will find them quite cheap because brother has put the brand new mfc 235c or 26oc on the market which are exactly the same...
In case you have a network buy a mfc 440cn (old one) the new one is the mfc 465cn and also the same.. :-)
Do use only original brother ink carts. You might find quite cheap original carts at eBay.
Did you use third party ink? If the ink is pigmented the filter in front of the printnozzels is clogged and cant be cleaned any more.
What you can try is to buy a brand new original brother ink cart and do the cleaning 3 times. After that do a testsheet printing. In case its OK, your lucky and it was a problem of the cart. If you cant see any blocks (with the original ink used!!!) the printhead is crashed and has to be replaced (BTW: Its cheaper to buy a new mfc)!
Do use only dye ink for brother printers!!!
