Take the side of the case.
You should be able to get to the back of the slot where you want to install the CDRW.
Just push the bezel in the middle and it shoudl bend releasing the plastic catches securing it in the slot.
It is plastic and you are going to throw it in the garbage so dont worry about pushing to hard.
Let me know if this helps.

How to replace CD-ROM drive

In most cases, yes. Sometimes the drive can be removed by pulling it back into the case's motherboard area, then the new drive installed and pushed forward to be flush with the front of the bezel, but not usually. It is usually easier, if the hardware allows it, to remove the front bezel, unplug the drive's connectors, loosen the mounting screws or other gizmos, and push the drive out through the front. Reverse the procedure to install the new one.

Hello - It's not greatly intuitive:
You apparently have the sides and drive installation down so images below:

Install your drive and reinstall the front panel like so:

How to remove HDD in compaq presario sr2030nx

After removing the side cover, you will notice 4 black tabs behind the front bezel under the hard drive, bend these back just enough to let the front cover release at the bottom, then press the green square at the top to release the front plastic bezel. After you carefully pull the front off, you will need to remove the cables [power and IDE] pull up on the green tab that locks the guide screw on the hard drive and push it forward out of the case

You may need to remove the front bezel before taking the drive from the bay. there are screws that latch the drive into place, and they are likely hitting the bezel on the way out. Most bezels pop off easily. You should consult Acer tech support for details.

I am trying to find were to put the new hard drive in the compaq presario 5000

There are several extra bays internal. You need proper data/and power cables, possibly a "Y" splitter to give you access to an additional power tap. Also about 4 small machine mounting screws and or spacer shims if the HD is smaller than the available bay. The HD does not necessarily need to be mounted through the front bt the 5000 has removable bezels that exposed the xtra bays.

Replacing power supply HP M8120N

Here is the link for the upgrade and service guide.

This one is just as easy as 1) removing the side panel; 2) Remove the four screws that hold the power supply into position; 3) Remove the power supply cables from the motherboard (NOTE: If the media bay reader is in the way, you remove the front bezel by pressing the release tabs on the bezel and it will swing open. Remove the one screw securing the bay in position, then slide it forward so you can reach the power cable to the motherboard.); 4) Remove the power supply cables from the hard drives, cd rom drives, and other peripherals inside the PC. 5) Remove power supply...sometimes there is a button to push and it will slide out, sometimes not. 6) Replace power supply, then reverse procedures.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

The piece of metal is a punch out and you will need a flat head screw driver to pry it from the corner of the punch out then bend it back and forth until it release from the small connecting points around the metal, this will fatigue the metal and break away from the opening.

Installing cd drive

Hey there beisong,

In many desktop computers you need to install the drive from inside the case and slide it outward along the runner. The piece of metal you are possibly referring to, will prevent it from sliding out too far from the inside. Alternately, but less likely, there may may some quick locking mechanism on the side of the bay drive which is in place and preventing your further movement inward. In this case simply remove, usually by twisting to one side or the other to release. It may be advisable to remove both side panels to ensure there is not one on the opposite side.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.

That piece of metal is called a knockout. It's there to block off that area as long as you don't have anything installed there, to maintain a seal for cooling purposes. You can remove it by simply knocking it out or twisting it. Once you have be careful where the tabs were attached may be sharp, use caution until you get your new drive install to block the edges.

Hope this helps.
