This is a major job. Far too much information for this forum. It will require a lot of typing in this small space.

First, you'll need a few tools that you may or may not have. You'll need an air impact wrench capable of breaking a nut with 165 foot pounds of torque and red locktite on it. Next you'll need a torque wrench capable of putting 150-165 foot pounds of torque on the nut. You'll also need a torque that will torque to 60-80 foot pounds LEFT HANDED. Not all torque wrenches will torque left handed threaded fasteners. If you have these or can get them, Please drop me a line at [email protected] I'll type out instructions step by step.

I am trying to remove outer housing around front chain and clutch housing,to get to forward shift lever to replace it. do i need a pulley puller for the front chain sprocket.all this on a 1993 hd fxr

I think you are calling the lever you want by the wrong name. shift lever is on the outside of primary and there is no need to remove the covers. there is a bolt on shifter-remove it and slide lever of but mark position for installation. Fran [mechanic] if you are talking about rod on trans that goes thru both cases then you will need a puller for the clutch hub assembly. Fran

Foward control for 2005 super glide,, we hooked the shift rod to the shifter back to the transmission shift lever,,what do we do with the primary shift lever?

Up near the front of the downtubes of the frame, there should be a pair of threaded holes. There also should be a bracket for the shift lever and foot peg to mount on. The Super Glide uses the same frame as the Wide Glide. Just have a look at a Wide Glide for your setup. You should also have a pair of holes on the right side of the frame in the same place for the brake setup.

Change a stator

First secure the bike on a lift. disconnect battery.remove standard footpeg.Remove standard shifter. Remove all allen head bolts from outer primary cover. Some bolts are longer so keep track of where they go.Two bolts on the primary inspection cover also hold the outer to the inner primary case, so remove the cover. Now remove the outer primary case. The clutch, primary chain, adjuster, and compensating sprocket must be reoved as a single unit.Once you have done this take a rag and grasp the rotor and slide it off of the main engine shaft.Unplug the stator and remove the set screws holding it in place.Reverse procedure to install new stator.
