Creative Zen Vision M.
MP3 playing is not recognized by any PC or laptop I have tried syncing too. Purchased new USB cables, reinstalled USB drivers and no luck. The MP3 will charge when connected but the PC does not recognized that there is a device plugged in. My 1GB USB keychain ($10) gets recognized instantly. Read a lot of forums that say it may be Media Player or the USB drives. Since it does not work an several different PCs I am thinking it is the MP3 player's connection. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
I'm having the exact same problem. My zen is 'charging' but isn't detected anywhere on my pc and I'd leave it charging for days but nothing happens. I've tried different usb ports, reinstalling the software several times but nothing. I recently reinstalled Windows and with my new pc my Zen cannot work on it for some reason?! I put previous files from my old pc onto my Zen hoping that I could transfer them onto my new Windows pc but I fear I've lost the data on my Zen completely. Arggh, any suggestions guys? Please..x

I have a Zen Vision: M and often have the same problem if it is completely discharged and not used for a couple of weeks. When I plug it into my laptop I get a message saying 'This USB device has malfunctioned and is not recognized" (or something like that) and the unit will not power on. However, if I leave it attached for about an hour it eventually comes to life.
Do you have a wall charger, or do you only charge bu USB from your PC?
My advice would be: - Attach it via USB to your PC - Leave is for 1-2 hours and (hopefully) is should come back to life.
If not, try a different USB cable - I used to use the standard USB cable that came with my Zen Vision: M to charge (and sync) with my PC, but recently my PC does not recognize the device when using this, so I switched to a different USB cable (the one that came with my Sony Ericsson phone) and now it works first time, every time.
What did you do before the problem was showed up? I have same bug since the moment I was try to connect my ZEN Vision M thru iPod cable. I still can use it as player, but lost the ability to syncronize it with PC. Looks like I fucked up something in my hardware.
If you can't connect through USB anymore (also no reaction on you computer and no sign of connecting on the screen of the player),
you are going to need a new logic board. I know only one place that repairs creative zen players and sells the parts besides ebay obviously. If you just want to get the music out you can stick the hard drive on an iPod video logic board (they are compatible) and use a utilty like sharepod to extract the music.
If that doesn't fix it trythe USB cable Screen Doesn’t come on anymore http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18859 If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
How to make Creative vision m, find the computer. Connect your creative with U. S. B. cable. Go to my computer, click on right button on mouse go to properties, click on hardware tab, click on device manager button , scrawled to creative logo press on right button on mouse and press on update drives. This worked for me on both of my computers now I can charge my creative and transfer of the files to it with no problems. Good luck.
