Question about HP DeskJet 1280 InkJet Printer
I'm running Vista, and can print text on my HP 1280 with no problems. However, printing lines and shapes from MS Word and .pdf documents is not possible - the page comes out blank
When I printed powerpoint documents on a hp deskjet 1280 it failed to print lines. I found that this problem could be solved by changing the transparency attribute of the line to 50%. The transparency attribute of a line or shape can be found by clicking on the sequence format/shape-outline/more-outline-colours/transparency at the top of the screen

Yes I am having similar problems using a hp deskjet 1280 to print pdf files. In some figures, the colour shading doesn't print out, while in other cases the linework doesn't print out.

I have two of these printers, both of them with problems from the factury. The problem was tha printer's motherboard.
I have sent one of them back to the storage, and they told me what was the error. I started to have probélems with printing in any format (first I could not print in custom format, then I wasn't able to print in A3, and a few days later in A4 :-)). So I sent i back and now I hope that the probmel was definitivelly solved.
So both of you trie to ask for somebody who can verify the motherboard integrity. This is my best advise in this problem.

Have you tried using the printer driver that comes with vista, (1280 series) as opposed to the one off the internet (1280). That seemed to fix my problems. Control panel - Printers - right click add printer - from hp. Cheers
