Does anyone know where I can locate the convergence IC's in a RCA R52WM24 52 in. HDTV. I don't see anything with STKxxx on it. If fuse FL231 keeps blowing, would the convergence IC's be the next place to start?

Re: RCA R52WM24 52 in. HDTV convergence IC location
The rca itc222 chasis uses no stk the convergence is controled with transistors... the convergence amp board is located above the main signal board(green board)... it can be identified as the one with several heat sink fins on it. FL231 is related to convergence.. there has been a problem with this fuse when it blows the processor doesnt know it is a projection set so it turns it into a regular tube tv. Here at the shop we have found number one reason this fuse blows is poor solder connection on the flyback. So replace the fuse and reflow the solder connection on the flyback and around that area also the horizontal transistor and then see if that doesnt fix the problem.. if you have an more trouble ..... email@example.com

I think youre refereing to convergence Issues?? If so your model doesnt have IC chips like most other brands. If your model has a convergence issue its fairy easy to fix. let me know if the issue is convergence or not and I will assist you with the issue.
if you need to know where the convergence settings are you click menu then setup and then convergence. I have the same tv as you and the picture looks like its 3d with red and green and the words on menu are doubled and I tried auto converge and it didnt work. If you figure it out let me know. it also might be a fuse.
Hi Thanks for using FixYa. From
what you have described it seems that you have to replace the convergence IC
and also check the power resistor, if values are not exact you have to replace
them. These ICs are located behind the black heat sink; you can see once you
open the back off the TV. All this is only recommended if you have electrical
expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components. Please
do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further
assistance. Thanks Rylee
Go to menu then setup look for convergence if you Do NOt see convergence then you have a open fuse FL231 Located on right side of FBT there is 3 in a roll small brown rectrangle looking caps but they are Fuses it will be in the one in the middle.
Hi, rca`s don`t have convergence IC`s, they use an entirely different system to perform convergence, you have a blown chemical fuse and 3-6 bad solder joints on your flyback transformer. replace fl231 chemical fuse rated at 400ma. right beside flyback (theres 3 of them your bad one is the middle one)and while your soldering re-solder all of the flyback transformer pins and your tv will be back to normal :) video-tek
If the convergence option is not on the menu anylonger. thats another issue all together. That is usually a fusible link and capacitor on the deflection board that will cause that to happen. The convergence ICs will also need replacing as the link and capacitor will most certainly take out the convergence ICs as well. You will need a service manual on this issue. Let me know and I will post a link where you can get one along with some free support to help you with it.
vin, board replacement is BIG bucks, IF it`s available, convergence IC`s are located on a large silver colored aluminum heat-sink, on the board they will be marked IK04 & IK05, they are probably STK 392-110`s or STK 392-150`s, those 2 will have to be replaced, check all of the low Ohm resistors lined up in front of the IC`s for dis-coloration, replace any that look slightly burnt with the EXACT rating or the new IC`s will fry, if you have questions e-mail me back, If you are not proficient at soldering & un-soldering and if you don`t have a good voltmeter, don`t attempt this repair yourself, BMW Rider
Sorry no pic, but if you look from back of set on deflection board(board with HV transfromer)big part with about 4 wires coming out going to your picture tubes. Looking close to leftside of board the last IC with heatsink shield standing up has a small 7 pin ic if looking on it you should see TDA8177 or something to that affect. This is the verticle IC. Since you have found the IC's (convergence) then the only thing left is to look for open fuses like 1300, 2004, 1900 etc and see if open. Concerning cost if you buy from www.bluestaronline.com these part are inexpensive so it wouldn't hurt to buy all. Rule of thumb, if set has color problem then Convergence IC, if no problem just went out one day while playing fine then Vertical, then the alternative if no sound the audio area, which is not common for this set. Hope this helps!
