Hi,
I have a NEC LCD4000, 40" LCD panel which is showing signs of deterioration. One way to look at it is that there are dark patches on the screen, another way is to say that there is a bright spot/patch in the center of the screen. If I disassemble the screen I can lift the front glass (id this a filter?) and the LCD panel below looks fine.
Is there a way to rectify this problem, can the glass screen (connected to the LCD by wires) be replaced...by plain glass??
Thanks
Phil

No you cant change the glass on the panel it is a sealed unit. The lcd panel is the most expensive part of the tv to replace and usually cost more than the tv is worth. LCd panels do go bad after years of service. some times a digital board can cause picture problems but from your description it sounds like the LCD panel. It may be time for a new set.
