Bt vision service addres is not a physical address like your house, it is the ip number of the bt server which allocates connectivity for your vision box. This number is kept under wraps as bt will NOT give it out over the telephone, they insist that an engineer must call to input this number if they cannot do it remotely. I think that this is to prevent unauthorised access to their servers. A load of Bull...t i hear you say, well i agree it is totally stupid that they wont give you this number. this address is asked for by your box when a diagnostic fault usually CO3 error occurs. People who think that this address is like a house address or an address of where the box is located do not know what they are on about.

The Hard Reset you have been given is wrong, the one listed here is a Soft Reset, a Hard reset is done by unplugging the power cable and then on the V-box press and hold down arrow and ok buttons together while reconnecting power cable back in, the full software install should take 20 to 30mins depending on your b/band speed, you will also need to have a NEVOSS account setup for the v-box to register on the server (i'm a BT Vision Engineer)

Are you needing service? Sounds like you need to put the address where the unit is located.

To be able to answer you correctly, I need to know who is asking for a service address and what is the situation requiring you to provide a service address.

Now if you meant hard reset and soft reset:

Soft Reset - telling the software or operating system to reset.

Hard Reset - forcing the hardware to reset, reset button on computer, remove battery on cell phones, throwing out the window from the fifth story (vista).

There are two ways to restart the V-box:

soft reset: You can put your V-box into Standby Mode by using the Power button on your BT Vision Remote Control. This should be done when you are out during the day and overnight.
hard reset: If your V-box freezes for any reason, press and hold down the Power button on the front of the V-box for six seconds. The V-box will restart. This may take a few minutes. Initially you will see a blank screen and the ‘Hello’ screen. If you have been experiencing problems and continue to do so after restarting your V-box please contact the BT Vision Technical Helpdesk.

Maybe it means a physical address, or it's talking about the hub.

Hi. We are trying to setup a phillips tv through a bt vision box please

  1. A TV aerial feed - The BT Vision box gets its digital TV signals over-the-air, so needs a TV aerial. This needs to be connected to the aerial input socket on the V-Box. There is an output RF aerial socket to allow you to connect an aerial feed to a TV if required.
  2. SCART lead - You need to make a connection from the Vision+ box to the TV using a SCART lead. If you have a HD TV set, you can also connect via an HDMI lead (not supplied).
  3. Connection to Broadband - You'll need to connect from the BT Vision+ box to a BT Broadband connection. This is done using the BT Home Hub. The Home Hub is the Broadband router supplied by BT, and it connects into to your phone line to give you Internet access-The most common way to make the connection, is to connect an Ethernet (networking) cable from the BT Vision+ box to one of the Ethernet ports on the Home Hub. If you can't make a direct connecting to the Home Hub, you can use powerline adapters to make the connection. The self-install kit includes two Powerline adapters to allow you to connect to the Home Hub if it's in a different room to the BT Vision+ Box.
  4. The BT Vision v-box has an additional scart socket, which can be connected to a video or dvd recorder.

Icannot get channels BBC1 & BBC2 on BT Vision....why is this please?

Freeview occasionally adds and removes channels. Sometimes, Freeview juggles some of the channel numbers around too. To make sure your box or digital TV has the correct channels and channel numbers, you have to rebuild the channel lineup.

Cant get my bt vision [freeview] to come on. my box doesnot let me view freeview . on my bt vision box.

This system can only be used if you subscribe to BT Vision.
They have it configured so that Freeview only works once the box has checked your subscription.
I think this is a bit mean of BT because with their system Freeview is not free as you cannot access it without paying the monthly fee.

How do you connect bt vision to a sony bravia kdl 37v4000.I have it working ok on freeview only but the bt vision appears on analogue channel 6 and the vision remote changes the tele channel not the vision...

Sounds like you cant have set up the scart cables properly. Im unimpressed with BT for not setting it up for you, why didn't they?
Plus you will not need the freeview box if you have BT Vision, so i would take out the freeview box and just connect one end of the Scart lead into the back of the BT Vison box then put the other side of the lead to the Back of the TVs scart socket. Then all you need to do now if change the channel to AV1 OR AV2 or whatever channel you have.
