Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
Yeah, I was just trying to avoid the heat gun fix. I don't feel like buying one just for this problem and I heard it is only a temp fix. Oh well, it is better than nothing. Thanks dochera. I hope this works.

Ok i solved the problem. here is what i did!
I took the whole thing apart. and removed the heatsinks from the processor and video chip. I then used a heat gun to re-heat the components on the motherboard. paying close attention to the areas around each processing chip... (this is a delicate procedure becasue you have to heat it up enough for the solder to melt but it you heat it too quickly the components can actually pop-off and shoot across the room then you'd be screwed. its happended to me before on a ps2.) so you have to heat it slowly but thouroughly again paying extra close attention to the area around the processors since this is where most of the heat is generated when the unit runs... I also worked the area around the video port. I then used a small blade to remove the thermal contact cement on the processors and heatsinks... I had some new thermal grease I bought fro an electronics store. I spread a liberal amount on each prcessor and heat sink then re-attached them and put everythng back together... BOO- YA~! works great! had. If anyone wants this service perfomed fro them I can do it for $40 plus shipping.. No gurantee it will solve the poroblem, but it worked for me. I've worked with game systems for ten years now through nitsur.com which is currently offline. firstname.lastname@example.org
Godd luck everyone

I know it is simple, but did you make sure the switch on the video cable was set to the appropriate setting? It must be TV for regular tv or HDTV for HD tv set.
