My garage door will only open about a quarter of the way then you have to shut it and try again. After about 5 trys it will open or if you are using the inside pad you have to quickly hit it twice to almost trick it into opening...can someone please help me please!!!! I thought it was a sensor problem but the left one is orange and the right one is green as it should be. any other suggestions?

I would suggest un-hooking the garage door from the opener (usually just pull the cord hanging down), and then try to lift the door manually. If you find it hard to lift then the problem could be that you need to tighten the springs so the door lifts easier. The opener only wants to lift so much weight and if the springs are too loose it makes the door too heavy. The weight makes the opener think it hit something on the way up - so it goes back down.

There seems to be a loose connection somewhere in the controller circuitry. I would suggest to visually inspect the solder connections on that controller board using a magnifier aid between 2X to 4X.
Good Luck.

Garage door will not stay down when closed

Sounds like the down limit is out of adjustment. Turn the Down limit switch opposite the direction of the arrow a quarter turn and try again. Repeat until the door stops before hitting the floor then fine tune to shut off at the floor.

The motor runs but it only opens a few inches and slowly goes back down its a chamberlain whisper drive model HD900D

Hi. I have seen this before, although usually not from chamberlain garage door openers.

Pull the release cord that unlocks the door from the opener, and manually open the door ALL the way open.

Then lock back in place in the open position.

Then use automatic opener to shut door.

It will close very slowly, but should close all the way.

Then, open the door again using the remote, and the door will once again open slowly, this time it should open all the way.

Then close door with remote, and door should now close as it is supposed, with the proper speed.

The slow opening and shutting is the system position sensor resetting itself.

This is why your door is acting up.

I would also look up by the belt drive connects to the front of the garage door opening, to make sure there isn't any dirt, cobwebs, or other obstructions on the sensor that may cause it to re-close the way it does.

Garage door goes up halfway and then stops

There are 2 amall holes on the back of the unit. One is for force and one is for travel. If this just happened then you need to turn the force screw one quarter turn to the right and then try it again. You should not have to adjust the travel one unless this is a new unit. If you have more problems after turning it too much then there is a problem in one of the door hinges or the chain. Thanks for using FixYa. Let me know if this helps.

You have a door sensor problem. Make sure the small light on each sensor is not flickering ever so slightly. Sometimes very hard to see. Tweak them just a bit. The color of the sensors is normal.

How do I reset my garage door opener. It is a Coromaster 2000 motor. The closing and opening setting are out and the motor only stops due to resistance.

The Coromaster 2000 does not operate off limit switches. It has a quarter-revolution optical pulse counter. To re-program the open and close limits do the following: Ensure that the door is open at least a couple of feet. Press the reset button once or twice Short out pushbutton and common and hold until close limit and then release. Door should stop at your new close limit. Wait 5 seconds. Short out pushbutton and common and door will open. Hold the short until open limit and then release. Limits should now be set.

Door openly opens 5-6 in, then stops.

If the door isn't unusually heavy when you open it manually then maybe an adjustment will help. On the back of the motor unit you will find the 'up force' control. Increase it 1/4 turn and try.

Garage door will not open

The light flashing 5 times is the code for RPM sensor or motor overload. The RPM sensor is a small printed circuit board just in front of the motor. I would really doubt it is a motor problem unless you have been operating the opener enough that the thermal overload protector has shut it down. It will start running again as soon as it's cooled off.

Garage door indicator light blinks 5 times

this probably means you have a bad photo eye if you happen to have to doors side by side may be picking up on other sides photo eye just switch sides from left to right, however if the lights are coming on but does not mean that photo eye is not bad it has a small circuit board inside of it...
