If it isn't spraying, the pump is most likely bad, leaking from tank, depending where it is leaking, may need a new tank. But Bissell has obsoleted this unit and its parts. So unless you can find the parts somewhere, it may be time for a new one.

There is a spring and a silver ball that seals the water from running out of the clean water tank, it fell out and I do not know how it goes back in. Bissel 1720 little green plus green machine

if it is from the tank,,,bad news,,, you have to replace the tank as a unit. according to the picture I see is an assembly and gives no parts breakdown on it exept the complete tank. there is a cover on top of the solution tank and is possible it goes there. that you can replaced but spring-ball part dont show on graphics. update.... cover is no longer available and tank price is about $23.00 at sears website part# 603-1204.

Good luck to you.

Facing the machine, the tank on the right is the solution tank, the tank on the left is the recovery tank. The solution tank is where you mix the solution and water to do your shampooing. The recovery tank is where the dirty water will vacuum to. Just a note, this model and its most of its parts are oblsolete.
