Canon pixma MP 530 IS wireless compatible.  I don't know about windows (vista or XP) but it works with my macs.  I was able to print using my Imac as a print server but the Imac had to be on all the time to print from my macbook.  Updated my router to an Apple airport express and have been able to print wirelessly from the laptop and Imac without a problem.  Must be another windows issue, but I love the printer.

Hi jammin dave,

There are certainly known issues with sharing a printer installed on an XP machine to a Vista machine. First question is whether you have Windows Live OneCare installed. This in itself causes known sharing problems.

We have an oj8500 (not wireless) printer connected to one computer operating on windows xp. We can to add a computer operating on windows vista to the printer. is there a way to do it that works? if so,...

Yes, if both these computers are on a network (wireless or wired, doesn't matter), the printer can be shared on the XP machine and then found and installed on the Vista machine.
The only disadvantage is that the sharing machine must be on all the time in order to make the printer available to the other computer.
To share a printer, open the Printers and Faxes applet from Start Menu -> Settings, right-click your printer and choose Sharing. The system will guide you.
Afterwards on the Vista computer you must install a new printer and tell it to search for a network printer - it should be found and installed quite easily.

Unable to find printer sharing for mfc6890 over window xp

To set up printer sharing in your home network, you need to configure printer options in the control panel of Windows XP Operating System. You could get a menu while right clicking the printer icon in the Control Panel. From this, you need to select the sharing option. You also need to make sure that you have enabled printer sharing option in the network card properties. To connect a printer in the network you need to set an IP address for your printer. If you have any troubles with printing with your printer in the network it might due to the errors in the network. So, you need to make sure the network connection.

How do i share this printer from win xp to win vista? i have 2 computers side by side and want the printer to serve both computers?

First the one Computer is connected to the Printer and the other one not right? So think the Computer that is connected to the Printer as "Printer Server" and the other one as the "client comp". So go to the Start Menu one the Printer Server and go to Devices and Printer (or what u call it). Then RIGHT CLICK the printer and then propeties. Click on sharing and then u see the Printer sharing name. Remember it well. Now go to the start menu again and Right Click "COMPUTER" then Properties.U see the computer name. Close all. Now go to ur client computer (XP) and go to Control Panel>Printer And Faxes>Add a printer>Next>Network Printer>Connect to this printer (2nd option) and now do this. "\\ur vista computer name\the sharing name" and then finish and ur done. :P

What I would like to know if it is possible to????? I have a desktop connected to a wireless router the desktop is running windows XP and I have a laptop running Windows 7 is it possible to get the laptop...

I would first (on the desktop) go to Printers, select your printer and right click on it and go to Sharing and enable sharing on your printer. Hopefully this will get you going in the right direction. Once you enable sharing on the desktop, you should be able to access it and install the printer on your laptop. Good luck.

Can't get epson Stylus nx400 to print from wireless laptops. printer connected to desktop with windows xp pro. both laptops use windows vista home premium.

As your printer is not wireless itself you need to shared the printer. To enable this goto Control Panel on your desktop, select printers, right click your printer and there should be an option for sharing. Enable sharing.
Now using your Vista laptops you should connect to your home network (in your case this is probably a wireless router, as long as your desktop is connected to this router too), goto Control Panel, printers, add printer, search for printer not connected to this copmputer (or network printer).
Hopefully the Vista laptops will then pick it up and install it correctly. You may be asked to install the correct driver for the vista machines. Windows should provide you with instructions on how to do this.
Hope this helps, www.PuterCare.com

Printer drivers

Have you made sure that the Printer is a shared resource.

Generally a printer will not be seen on a network if it is shared (allowed to be used by others).

From the computer (where the Printer is attached), locate the Printer by :

1. Click Start
2. Click Settings (or Control Panel)
3. Click Printers (or Printers and Faxes)
4. Highlight the printer you want to share.
5. Click File, Sharing (or Properties, and the Sharing tab).
6. Click to Share the printer.

The printer should now be available for you to see (from your laptop or anything connected to your network). The instructions above are for Windows XP (Vista).

I personally do not own Windows 7 and cannot provide you with exact steps for Windows 7.

However, SHARING is what you are looking for. If you can't achieve sharing the printer with the above steps, then use the HELP in Windows 7 to get the exact instructions.

If you need further assistance, let me know. Please rate. Regards,

Print from vista to xp with usb connected lexmark 2350 results in access denied error after timeout. Vista access shared printer through a wireless router. Any recommendations?

Okay, I need to understand your topology a little better. You have two PCs, one using Vista and one using XP. Both PCs are connected to the Wireless modem. The printer is connected to the XP PC and shared across the local network? When the Vista unit sends a job to the printer, you get an access error message. Is this description accurate? Normally this would be caused by the sharing settings on the XP unit. Please make sure you have the sharing options correctly set on the XP unit and then get back to me if I've given you an incorrect path to follow. Don

Print sharing

No matter how you slice it, if you want to share the printer, you will be creating a network. If I remember this printer correctly, it has an Ethernet port to connect to a network or USB to connect ot a computer. If your router supports wired connections, you can connect it there and just inistall drivers on each device and selec tthe network option. If not, you will probably want to connect it via USB to your desktop machine and enable print sharing on that machine. Te enable printer sharing, open up the Network and Sharing Center. In the Sharing and Discovery section, turn on the option for Printer Sharing. You will still need to install the XP driver on the netbook and select the network option, but give it the proper network location (ie.\\mycomputer\this printer).
