I changed the motor control unit and it solved my problem. Make sure you clean the filter on the bottom of washer behind round access panel. A clogged filter will cause this problem and others.

How to replace washer lid on haier model hlp21n

You can buy the lid at encompassparts use p/n:WD-4250-11
but replacing it will be difficult. You have to remove the entire top but I have seen one replaced without going to all the trouble. It's hard to explain but you have to angle it a certain way and get the pins installed but if you don't want to risk breaking it, buy an aftermarket warranty from Sears and have them break it. For 80. dollars they will cover all the machine repairs for one year any problems.

It does not spin even though the motor inside spins

Thank you for using, Ebusban. Majority of the inside part of washing machines today can inspected by removing six self-tapping screws at the back panel of the machine. Since the washer or spinner has no belt tensioner, you can remove the worn out drive belt to install a new one. Be sure to bring the worn out drive belt as sample since your "owners manual" will not provide part numbers of your washing machine.

My washer had stopped spinning about two weeks ago, we replaced thecoupler and it worked fine but today it stopped spinning again

Unplug the washing machine, and turn off the water supply to the machine. If necessary, remove the water hoses from the back of the washing machine because they may be in the way of the access panel.
Check that the agitator is seated correctly by opening the lid of the washing machine. If it's loose, pop off the top of the agitator--if there is one--and tighten the bolt that holds the agitator in place. Or, in some models, simply pull straight up and then reseat the agitator.
Remove the access panel located in the back of the washing machine by unscrewing the screws holding it in place. This allows access to the drive motor.
Press on the drive belt that works the agitator. If the belt moves more than 3/4 inch, tighten the belt to fix the spinner problem. If the belt is worn or cracked, replace the belt.
Replace the drive motor, if tightening or replacing the drive belt doesn't fix the agitator. Purchase a new drive motor at a wholesale retailer. Disconnect wiring, remove screws holding motor in place and insert new motor. Screw into place, and connect wiring.
Check for any black substance leaking under the washing machine. This might indicate a clutch problem, if the washing machine spinner is not working. Contact a professional repairman to replace the clutch.

My duet makes a loud (out of balance sound) when spinning @ high speeds. (it's not out of balance tho) the outer plastic drum seems to have a groove worn into it

The problem is the dreaded broken spinner support or what is called the spider assembly. It is the three-arm assembly that holds the basket to the shaft. Unlike the basket which is stainless, the spider is made of aluminum that corrodes with time and usually breaks during the 6th or 7th year of the machine.

The bad news is, the spinner support cannot be purchased separately. It comes as a complete assembly with the basket which is covered by at least a 10-year warranty. The most frustrating fact is that the spinner support is not covered by the same warranty even though they come as an assembly which costs at least $500, a non-economical repair to invest.

Here are some videos of owners of Sears Kenmore Front Load Washers who had an issue with the spinner support. Most Sears Kenmore Front Load Washers are manufactured by Whirlpool like the ones in the videos.

Most likely a failed "spinner" assy. The roaring that you hear is the bearing telling you it's had enough and has gone on strike.

MAJOR job! If it's over 5 years old, I recommend calling a professional and get quotes. Then decide what you want to do.

If it's less than 5 years old, it should be under warranty. Contact Sears. Tell them you have a failed spinner and tub bearing assy. and have them do the repair.

*Just a quick note. You should use only HE detergent in these machines.
