Your problem could be attributed to the electronic control board. I assume that the washer spins up until that point of the cycle.

Won't go into final spin and lid lock light flashes

Will try and point you in the right direction you probably have one of the F7 codes which relate to motor speed, since the lid is locked you have to get the entire top up to do this on the back of the machine there is a screw on each side same level remove slide top bout 1/2" forward lift on the front panel infront of basket to the left should be a plastic packet with the service manual it will tell you how to place the machine in diagnostic and explain the error code and possible causes

The 3 buttons

button selection : To select an option press the button and you will see a light come on above the button. Press again to cancel and the light will go out. You cannot alter the options once the machine is running. Note : remember to cancel buttons after use!

As you look at the machine
Left hand button... Rinse Hold.. use this option to Help reduce creasing of delicate or synthetic fabrics by holding clothes in the final rinse water. The rinse hold light will flash to indicate that the programme is holding final rinse water. Complete the final spin by pressing the Rinse Hold button when light is flashing.
This is not available with Wool or Spin only programmes.

Middle Button.... Energy Save... use this option to save money and time on lightly soiled loads. This is not available with the Quick Wash, Rinse and Spin, or Spin Only programmes.

Right Hand Button .... Super Rinse... use this option for Large Wash loads and items for young children or people with sensitive skin. This option increases the water level for the first two rinses. This is not available with Cold Wash, Rinse and Spin or Spin Only programmes.

Copied from my Hotpoint FEW12 user instruction sheet.
Hope it helps.

HOTPOINT AQUARIUS WF 250 ON/OFF LIGHTS FLASHING

The lights are set off by the balance sensors. And if your balance sensors are  stopping    it from spinning than you first have to make sure the washer is level. You  could have bad Shocks and a bad electronic control board,.

My washing maching machine is very noisy and sounds like it is banging on a spin cycle. wot is it? it is ok when empty

Usually caused by the drum being out-of -balance. Can be the result of poor distribution of the clothes or too light a load in the machine. Before the spin cycle starts, the drum usually rotates clockwise and anticlockwise to distribute the load evenly.
If the above is not causing the problem, it may be due to the concrete damping block ( present on most washing machines) becoming loose. This sometimes happens after a period of use, and can be easily corrected by tightening up the retaining bollts.
Finally the bearings could be worn. Repairs could be expensive if this is the case.

Before investigating anything inside the machine MAKE SURE IT IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE MAINS SUPPLY!
