Question about LG WM3677HW 3.7 cu.ft. Front Load Washer and Dryer

2 Answers

No Power We used this machine for 3 months; it powered down in the middle of a cycle, and now will not turn on at all. We've checked the outlet and cord, and there was no problem there. What could the problem be?

You will need to remove the top of the machine and check some voltages with a volt/ohm meter.
Please post the exact model and serial numbers from the machine and I will try to walk you through the troubleshooting process.
Thanks, Mike

Thanks for the numbers. The only information I have is from a 2002 training program. Your machine was built July of 2006 so I hope this information helps you.

I understand your problem to be that nothing is lighting up on the control panel. This is what the manual says about this problem.

Remove the top panel from the machine and follow the power cord to the main power control board. Make sure you have 120v where the cord plugs to the board. There is a red LED on the board, If it is not lit up, replace the main control board. If it is lit up the problem is probably the display board, but could also be the main control board. Replace one, if that doesn't fix it, replace the other one.

There should be a tech sheet in the machine when you remove the top that may have more detailed diagnostics. One of the biggest problems we have with LG is the lack of support information to troubleshoot problems but they make up for it with the price of their parts. You can buy the main board and display board together for less than $150. You can go to, click on parts, enter your model number and see parts diagrams and lists for your machine. They are kind of high on their parts but they have the best parts database I have found online.

Let me know what you find out or if I have misunderstood your problem. I will try to find a service manual and let you know if I find any more information.

I found another repairman that had a service manual for your machine. It gave the same instructions for diagnosing your problem as the info I posted earlier.

Let me know what you find out.

    Thanks, Mike

I almost forgot, Your machine has a 2 year warranty on the electronic control board. This covers the part only, not the labor. The phone number to find an LG servicer is 1-877-714-7486, or go to

Hi the problem is more than likely an internal fuse on the circuit board to do repair yourself youll need to get schematics and a multimeter and test the fuses on the board but as you have only had it for 3 months it should be covered by at least a 12 month warranty

Also have you checked the fuse in the plug if this is fine then its going to be circuit problem

Washing machine causing power failure in whole

Best answer to this is the circuit outlet is connected to is overloaded < to many items are plugged into it > could be 15-20 watt breaker and usage amounts to more than wattage allowence. If you can lighten the load on circuit by removing things < t.v.,appliances,lights,etc.> from the other outlets that are affected < shutting down when breaker trips > then you can compromise and use washer any time. The other suggestion is to dedicate a breaker to washer, < by adding breaker and wiring to outlet for washer >.

Washer won't turn on

Begin by checking to be sure the outlet where you have the washer plugged in has power. you may have blown a fuse or popped a circuit breaker. If no power, either replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker by turning it all the way off and then all the way on.

Whirlpool duet has no power

Is the power cord plugged into a grounded 3 prong outlet?
Plug power cord into a grounded 3 prong outlet.
Are you using an extension cord?
Do not use an extension cord.
Has a household fuse blown, or has a circuit breaker tripped?
Check to see if a household circuit breaker or Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlet has tripped. If so, reset the circuit breaker or Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter. If the washer is on a fuse box, check to see if a fuse has blown and replace it, if necessary. If the problem continues to occur, call an electrician.
Are both the hot and cold water faucets turned on?
Turn on the water. Check the household faucets to see if the hot and cold water faucets are turned on. Make sure to open both faucets completely for proper fill.
NOTE: Both hot and cold water must be connected to the washer and turned on. The washer will not operate properly with only one incoming source of water.
Is the water inlet hose kinked?

Straighten the water inlet hoses.
Are the water inlet valve screens on the washer clogged?
Turn off the water and remove the inlet hoses from the washer. Remove any accumulated film or particles. Reinstall hoses, turn on water and check for leaks.

Is the washer in a normal pause in the cycle?
The washer pauses for about 2 minutes during certain cycles. Allow the cycle to continue. Some cycles feature periods of tumbling and soaking.
Is the washer door firmly shut?
The door must be completely closed for the washer to operate. The door may look closed, but may not be latched. Open the door and close firmly.
Are the shipping bolts removed?

All four shipping bolts must be removed from the rear of the washer before you operate the washer. Each unit is shipped from the factory with four bolts, which are designed to protect the washer during shipping. Failure to remove all of the shipping bolts, and the four plastic spacers that are with them, can result in noise, vibration, error codes and possible machine damage.
Has a cycle been selected, but Start has not been selected and held for 1 second?
Press and hold Start for 1 second.
Is the Control Locked status light on?
Press and hold the End of Cycle Signal button for three seconds. This will turn off the Control Lock feature.
Is the Delay Wash status light on?
Your washer will start after the selected hours of delay are completed.
Was the door left closed after the last cycle?
The washer door must be opened and closed again to start a new cycle. If the door is not opened between cycles, the washer may not start.
