Hi we have problem 6kva 9120 EATON UPS with external battery, problem is frequent powerboard has gone, found input fuse failure also some components around input section has blown out.we had replaced 2 times power board with control brd, charger brd, measured site input voltage of UPS is average 200V or 240Volts.
Is it need to install spike/surge suppresser before UPS, pls advice also need part number of this model in EATON.
The Poweware UPS is a true on-line UPS System, so it will handle sustained over and under voltages to +20% and -15%. If you are getting input spikes, the UPS has MOV's which will handle input spikes, and if too great a spike, the MOV will die attempting to save the UPS output load. If you are having further UPS input problems you need to put a good quality surge arrestor at the panel feeding the UPS on BOTH circuit legs feeding the UPS.
Maybe you have many overvoltage situations at your area, that the UPS can't handle. It's a good idea to put before the ups an overvoltage protection or a stabilizer. Ask the manufacture for the overvoltage protection of the ups that can handle.
