Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Whirlpool fridge model WF-NL300 ice maker not working. No water in icemaker. Black water supply tube that fills icemaker was frozed solid with ice. I thawed it in a cup of hot water. Unsure if line could be/is frozen above this point. Still no ice 24 hours later. Hear intermittent buzzing that sounds like water valve opening up too fill icemaker, but no water in icemaker.

Turn ice maker off for 24 hours to thaw out any additional frozen lines.
Make sure that you do have water from source to unit. Water valve grit screen may be clogged with debrie or water valve is bad.

My whirlpool ed20db ice maker isn't making ice. Inlet tube is frozen solid

Thanks for the model number. The water control valve=> W10245167 Water Inlet Valve will need replaced when this happens. Problem allows water to leak slowly into the ice maker and fill tube can become solid very quickly, or very messy ice formations coming down from ice maker, Thanks John Tripp Appliance 911

The icemaker calls for water but no water comes into it

Starting from the start, make sure the valve behind the fridge is open. then make sure when you disconnect the tube from the intake of the refrigerator, that water comes out. Then check the intake filter on the fridge for debris. Then defrost the freezer in case the intake line froze. If you still have no water going into the ice maker, the valve is probably bad. If you post the make/model and go through those steps I'll help you take the Icemaker apart...

I ice maker keeps freezing in our side by side GE fridge.

This annoying problem can have a variety of causes. Check these four things first:
  1. Make sure the water supply is greater than 20 psi. If too low, thewater valve won’t seat properly and it’ll “weep.” Common causes of lowpressure are gunked-up saddle tap valves, kinked water supply line, andusing a reverse osmosis filter to supply water to the icemaker.
  2. Check between the valve diaphram and valve seat for sediment. If found, do not attempt to repair, buy a new valve.
  3. Check to see if the black, flexible portion of the fill tube iswrinkled, twisted, or kinked which can cause ice dams that block thefill tube.
  4. Find out if the water has been shut off while the icemaker has kepton cycling. This, too, can cause the fill tube to freeze up.
If all the above checks out and you’re still getting fill tube freeze-ups,then best get a service guy to take a look. It could be a complicated repair.

I have a whirlpool gold refrigderator model# GS6NBEXRL00 and the ice maker is not producing any water. I replaced the whole ice maker and nothing happened. After unpluging and plugging the fridge back in...

you p robably have a frozen fill tube for the icemaker. coming inot the rear is a tube for dispensing water into the icemaker. check this for ice if it is frozen you can thaw it out by using a blow dryer to melt theice out. on some models this tube comes thru the back wall of the freezer for cross the freezer icemakers there is a black tube that comes out of the ceiling. if you have any questions please post here and I'll get back to ya thanks Peyton

Whirpool fridge won't make ice

a loss of water supply to the refrig could cause this problem. check the fill tube that supplies water to the icemaker (this is the tube that omes into the rear of the icemaker) i think you will find it is frozen up. you can clear this out wiht a hair dryer. I just looked at a diagram for the model number you provided and the fill tube is the black tube that comes into the fill cup on the far right hand side of the icemaker. you will have to raise the icemaker door to see it. but heating this and clearing the ice will fix it thanks peyton

Check supply tube to see if frozen or blocked using Q-tip or feel to see if frozen. if Frozen, hold up clear glass with heated water placing tube in hot water. Hold till ice in tube melts. Clear glass will allow you see ice slip out.

Ice-maker has no water in it

lift the service door in front of the icemaker so you can see the black tube to the right.squeeze it.is ot solid or soft.if solid, there is a kit that is just a heated fill tube.if its soft, look at the ice maker.where are the plastic fingers pointed?if you turned the icemaker sideways and looked at it,the fingers should be at about 1:30(imagine the hands of a clock.)if they are sticking somewhere else then you might have a bad module.(most often the case).when you open the door and see the light blinking, reach over to the left and just push in on the white flap of the receiver.as long as nothings blocking it,the light should go solid.
