2007 chevy impala, automatic start stopped working and now the engine light in my dash is on?

try using a scan tool to reset the ECM program

use scan tool to find out the problem, or go to autozone (or other auto parts) for free trouble code diagnostic

Someone probably forgot to finish the calibration with their scanner. If the car runs fine and everything works, I wouldn't worry too much. If the light is annoying, you will most likely have to pay someone to complete the job.

Look at the fuse block under the dash, or in the engine compartment. The fuse blocks are labeled very well. It will say Tail light. If all fails, look at your owners manual. It will break down the what each abbr. means on the fuel block. So you can find the right fuse.

Since the service engine light only comes on when there's a problem with the fuel, ignition or emission control system the car will automatically disable the car remote because it thinks there might be a problem with the emissions of the vehicle. I suspect it's to prevent further pollution if the car is in fact having a emission problems. In my case(s), the emssion sensor gets dirty and causes the sevice engine light to come on. Bring it to the shop and put the scope on it to make sure there's nothing wrong and reset the error msg. Next time, run it through a car wash, shut the vehicle off and start it again. it will say in your owners manual but i believe you turn your ignition key to the run position not the start. and pump the gas pedal 3 times with in 5 seconds

It sounds like these things are all related. When the a computer sees a problem in the Electronic throttle system, it will dissable traction control, and give the reduced engine power alert because the powertrain computer does not know the value of throttle postion.
Codes will need to be scanned in the computersto begin diagnosis.

pop out the center trim piece with a flat head screwdriver. Center dash piece may be brushed aluminum or wood grain depending on trim level. It should pop out easily working all the way around it. Then radio is held in with 7mm screws.
