SOURCE: How to multi region my Pioneer XV-DV55

Most have "hack codes" but yours is in a select group of a few that simply cant be done with a couple pushes of a button.

As far as I am aware the only way to get thesemachines to play Region 1 discs is to have them chipped. A variety of solutionsare available, and it needn't be expensive (typically £30 to £70) but youshould be aware that any internal modifications to your players wouldinvalidate the warranty. Have a look at the following web sites for moreinformation:http://www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/50-000-dvd.html
http://www.maxking.co.uk/dvdmod.htm
http://www.dvdchips.co.uk/

I know you were looking for a free solution you could do in a matter of seconds and sorry it didnt work out that way. Regardless, I hope I pointed you in the right direction and feel free to ask if you have any more question.

Happy Holidays,
TJ

CD/DVD player won't read discs

Firstly you need to get a Lens Cleaning Kit from KMart, BigW or your countries version of a Supermarket. Use that on the DVD player and then check all your discs for dust and dirt. Clean the discs by lightly wiping from the inside to the outside in a circular motion.
Next step if that doesn't solve the problem would be to take the cover off ( ensure unit is off and unplugged from the power source) and check if the lens is not covered with dust, lint, fluff etc. If covered wipe lightly.
NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE LENS LIGHT

Pioneer xv htd520 won't play dvds

This is a common problem for this model. It has a memory IC that must be replaced. This is a surface mounted IC that requires exceptional soldering skills to replace. I work at an authorized Pioneer service center and have repaired a good number of these for this exact problem. Unless you have great soldering skills it is not something that should be attempted to do yourself, it can cause permanent damage to the board if not done perfectly.

If you have the proper skills and soldering equipment I will be happy to give you the Pioneer part number so you can replace it yourself. If not, then you really should just take it to a service center and have a professional do this.

Let me know if you would like that part number.
